Myspace Layouts Distorted folk-instruments with vocals, drums and bass. Godrun is the ultimate folk rock act combining alterative rock with the subtle expressions of folk music. The band members have a history playing in bands like Hedningarna, Boot, Otyg, Ane Brun, Irya Gmeyner, Macaroni, Tokyo Knives and the Heartattacks. Back to the roots Godrun was formed in 2004 by Samuel Andersson (vocals and octave violin), Daniel Fredriksson (Lute) and Anders Peev (keyed fiddle). When the band first met we were all involved in different folk acts and Godrun was ment to be a trio playing original instrumental material in the modern Swedish folk music style on keyed fiddle, lute and fiddle. Realizing that we all had our musical roots in rock and metal we started experimenting with distortion pedals and a drum machine. After a few gigs on the Swedish folk scene we decided to totally dump our instrumental repertoires and become less folk music oriented in favor to our common rock music roots. Samuel composed the first 10 songs of our new repertoires and all we needed now was a great drummer and a great bass player. Drummer Erik Nilsson had played with Samuel in previous folk- and pop project and was a given member of the new quintet. Tomoko Sukenobu, a punk rock bass player from Japan, worked in the café at the Royal collage of music and heard from one of the customers that Godrun was looking for a bass player. Then Godrun was completed.
