My Dying Plants is me, Markus Johansson, and as as of late, on the new ep Decemberings, Marie Bergling [ Meloners ] enhancing the vocal parts on some songs. You might have run in to me as the bassplayer and singer of the Swedish punkband Tekla Knös. MDP however displays a quite different side of my music making (which has been there all along, I just never did much about it...). Yes, there may be a hint of punk in some songs but mostly we're talking mellow singer-song writer stuff with an alternative/indie twist. The lyrics are more reflective and personal compared to the In Your Face- themes of Tekla Knös.
The name My Dying Plants first appeared on a demo, Songs That Ought To Make You Happy that was only released in a few copies in 2004. Around that time though I had to quit playing all together (that's why Tekla Knös just dissapeared from the map) because of health problems (nothing serious, just tedious..) and they have been keeping me quite grounded since then.
Decemberings, the online-ep (well demo really) I released in feb 2008 can be seen as my humble return. It's totally homebrewed so I'm giving it away for free. If you like it, download and spread it! If you're not a Myspace user it's also available at LastFM .
