The gals are part of the roller derby revival that is taking the world by storm, and will soon be playing for your derby girl lovin', ass kickin', and quad-skatin' viewing pleasure for a second season spring 2008!
MTLRD was established in April 2006 by a handful of Montreal's most adventurous ladies.After a year of organization and training, the league has grown into three teams, and over 40 women. This year Montreal fans finally got to witness the MTLRD gals in action with an almost sold out crowd for each bout. LA Racailles, Les Contrabanditas, and Les Filles Du Roi all played a great season, with les FDR being victorious in the end. An all-star team was even created this year called the New Skids on The Block and played exciting bouts against Pennsylvania's own Lehigh Valley Roller Derby, and New York's Hudson Valley Horrors.MTLRD has played a number of other Canadian teams such as Toronto's Gore-Gore Rollergirls, Chicks Ahoy!, Hamilton Harlots, and the Steeltown Tank Girls. MTLRD has had press coverage in The Montreal Gazette, La Presse, The Globe and Mail, Montreal Mirror, Global's This Morning Live, Much Music's Adrenaline, CTV's CFCF News, Radio-Canada's Infoman, Urbania, Bang Bang magazine, Nightlife Magazine, Concordia University's the Link, UQAM's student newspaper, and CJLO Radio.
