Only Connect

About Me

I have been working in the arts for nearly 20 years (15 of them freelance), as producer, publicist and administrator working with various venues, companies, individual artists and events, including 5 years with Edinburgh Mela and 2 years with TAB, Scotland's first audience development agency.
Over that time I have worked with a huge number of very talented and inspirational people, from a wide variety of backgrounds and cultures. The aim of Scary Biscuits Promotions is to use these connections to provide a complete marketing package and encourage collaborative ways of working. It's about stepping out of the comfort zone - the biscuits ain't so scary once you get to know them!
Scary Biscuits is for musicians, artists, writers, directors, performers - people with inspiration and original ideas who simply want, and need, to connect!
Current clients: Camille O'Sullivan, Andi Neate, Bani & Indrani Bhattacharya, Samba Sene & Diwan, Voces del Sur, marc marnie, Shameless & Death Star 4.

My Interests

Music, live performance of many kinds; art, swimming, reading, making connections; life

I'd like to meet:

Creative people with a passion for life, music and chocolate!

Music:

Far, far, far too many to mention. You could start with - Is it original? Is it good? Has it got a saxophone on it?! Does it make the back of my neck tingle?

Current faves include Andi Neate, Camille O'Sullivan, Samba Sene & Diwan, Shameless, Death Star 4, Voces del Sur... which covers dark n sexy cabaret, afrobeat, grungey rock, Latin grooves. And they're my clients so I have to listen to them :-D (it's also why they're my clients!)

Then there's swamp, punk, blues, jazz, world, some classical... and the undefinable - honourable mentions to Nick Cave, Van Morrison, Tom Waits, Dr John, the Clash, Springsteen, Janis, Bessie, Billie, Nina Simone, Satchmo, Bob D, Amy Winehouse, Lou Reed... the list changes constantly.

My favourite is watching it live, especially in a small space (with enough room for dancing) where you can see the sweat!

A selection of music from some of my current clients:
