African Connections

About Me

Ndaje: African Connections is the melting pot where African culture meets the world. A buzzing club night with live music, drums, dance, food, late night DJs and special guests.
Since moving to Scotland from Senegal seven years ago, Ndaje organiser and musician Samba Sene has been making friends through his music. Ndaje brings together some of those friends for a night of Afro-beats, Ska, Reggae, Roots, Latin, Celtic, Mbalax, Folk, Jazz... and much more!
Live acts have included sassy ska grooves from Skaramanga, Afrobeats and mbalax fusion from Samba Sene & Diwan, the Latin influenced Das Contras, cool jazz from Sophie Bancroft & Tom Lyne, acoustic Senegalese music from Sylvain Ayite and the dynamic Waa Sylla Drummers.
DJ sets range from roots n reggae, salsa, mbalax, Sene-Gambian and more from a selection of Edinburgh's finest DJs including Maka, Khalifa Thiam, James Combe, Messenger regular Jeremiyah, Tigerr Tigerr and London based Modou Thiam.
Samba: "Ndaje is about promoting different cultures - from Africa, Eastern Europe, Asia, Latin America, Jamaica, Scotland, Ireland.. wherever! There will be time to listen, time to play and time to dance. Through music we are all one family!"
Notes:
Ndaje: noun; pronounced n-da-jay (no vowel sound on the n) - gathering
