About Me

Stephen John Clark was born in 1970, near Durham, in the North East of England. He has participated in the activities of the Leeds Surrealist Group since 1994, a year after it was founded by Kenneth Cox, Bill Howe and Sarah Metcalf. Having written for and edited Manticore, the Leeds Surrealist Group's broadsheet he now contributes to their current journal Phosphor.His drawings, poetry, fiction and articles have been published in several international surrealist journals including Analogon (Prague), S.U.R.R. (Paris) and Salamandra (Madrid). His drawings have started to appear more frequently in exhibitions in France, Spain and particularly the Czech Republic where he is currently exhibiting with the Czech and Slovak Surrealist Group.While writing his first novel he also produces illustrations for publication, having provided art for a number of musicians including Sharron Kraus, Glissando and Her Name Is Calla.THE BRIDGE OF SHADOWS, a book combining Stephen Clark’s poetry and Bill Howe's photography, published by SURREALIST EDITIONS is now available through Amazon.He currently lives in Newcastle Upon Tyne.
