Hamish McRae:We don't like it - it's far too quiet

About Me

So, I was reading my bio and realised that it's really out of date. So, here is a new version.
You can hear the sort of music I make on my own above, although the 2 weeks on is with Mark. See below. The foundation is feedback; enclosed, acoustic, and electromagnetic. Added to this is manipulation thanks to max/MSP, and sounds from sources such as modified guitar, harmonica, slinky, powdered milk container. I've been doing this for around three years, and will shortly be entering a new phase once more.
I play this, trombone, and generally make noise in Her Name Is Calla. Things are going pretty well there, many gigs with some very good bands indeed. Couple of singles out this year and an album next, as well as a tour or three. I also play in an improvisatory manner with Mark Towers under the guise of Orfon. He makes lots of sounds with hardware and software too.
I also like to get out and play trombone at a few places in Leicester with the likes of Mike Sole, Ola, and the dodoz people.
I've also just finished writing a film with a certain Mr Mike Riley. This will hopefully be made by the end of 2008, but we'll see.
Take care.

A long time waiting

So, it's been a long while since I wrote anything here, and rather a lot has happened. There is however a series of events that will perhaps always characterise the last few weeks, and that is to do w...

And another thing..

I've just been reminded about something. We played a gig recently with a couple of other bands. We were on first. Anyhow, we played, and then nipped outside for a smoke to find that the headline band ...

point for discussion

How much control are you willing to surrender when playing live. How much of what you create can you assign to a third party. How much would you want to. Would you be comfortable presenting music that...
