STENCH is an artist-led forum that brings innovative and experimental performance to an adapted warehouse space in a former industrial part of Leicester city centre. Events happen on the first Friday of each month during the student calendar that bring together local and international artist. STENCH is interested in the promotion and dissemination of: sonic art, improvisation, installations, noise, silence, dangerous experiments, twisted beats, dirty electronics, deep bass, visualisations, new media, and exhibitions. The forum is particularly interested in exploring the interchange between sub and mainstream culture, hybridity and cultural exchange.
The name STENCH reflects a state of disquiet, the subterranean, cultural decadence, something that is visceral and a challenge to the senses. By confronting this challenge, STENCH hopes to advance new artistic visions, develop ideas and encourage discourse amongst musicians and artists and generate excitement in finding the new.
