Hush the Many (Heed the Few)

for the quiet unheard...

About Me

Hush the Many are a band from London.Well, not quite a band, more a bunch of people who get on stage in different combinations so nothing ever sounds the same. It's usually made up of: 2 parts guitar 2 parts voice 1 part cello 1 part bass 1 part drums + whatever else is lying around the kitchen. We mix it all together, shake it all about and usually it tastes alright.Sometimes we really mess it up, sometimes it goes down smooth, and sometimes it has a dirty kick..I like it when there's a bit of all three. If you've ever been to one of those nights then you know us well :o)What bores us all is the sanitized music market where there are rows and rows of freeze-dried tastefree music products that are the same every time you eat them, sold in packaging more appealing than the content, and where even the musicians like to categorise themselves into aisles while sneering at the others for doing the same..'Oh you're in Vacuous Indie? How pleasant. I'm in Folk. My label says i should be on display in the New Bob Dylan section... Yes i know it's oversubscribed, but i hear they replace it every few weeks. I've got a new song up on myspace...'hmm.Anyway, back to facts, which is probably why you're reading this...We're recording an album at the moment, at the legendary SARM studios, and we're soon releasing details about our next adventure into the headlights...send us your email address if you want us to keep you postedRevolve

Sounds Like: “Revolve is the kind of power-goth love song that Tom Editors will put on when he gets down on one knee and makes an honest woman out of Edith Bowman. How could anyone not say yes?” NME 8/10 "There are few bands that could pull off such a triumph in a live atmosphere" Drowned In Sound“Haunting” Steve Lamacq (Radio 2) "I was so impressed with the band that I forgot to move from my seat" Tom Astley - The Fly “This is a rare and brilliant thing – a song that hits between the eyes in a compelling and blistering fashion…The Revolve-olution starts here.” The Mirror "So thank you a million times over, boys and indeed girls of Hush the Many, for your faith-restoring combination of delicate eloquence and crackling energy, and for a set that left the audience longing to enfold you in hundreds of grateful arms." Drowned in Sound review of End of the Road Festival "..but the revelation was Hush the Many...Fittingly, they hushed, and charmed, the sellout crowd." Richard Clayton - Sunday Times Culture Magazine "Luminous" Kevin Harley - Independent"Music to spot the stars in the midnight sky by... " Huw Stephens - BBC Radio One "a band who threaten to grow and blossom.." Sam Lewis - Drowned in Sound "a beautiful blend of soft psychedelia and traditional English folk" Rough Trade (about Song of a Page 7") “On the brink of something special” The Metro :"Its melody and aggressive guitars spit venomously beneath stern, urgent vocals. Brooding and beautiful." (about Song of a Page 7") Flux Magazine "Rarely have I seen a crowd act as impeccably reverential as those gathered here did from the moment the very lovely Hush The Many stepped on stage.." Ragged Words Magazine "Irresistible" (about Song of a Page 7") SoundsXP"Hush the Many excelled in all the lush intricacies that portray indie folk in its finest colours, lifting our standards skywards.."Neil Jones - MusicOMH "If you ever get to Utopia be sure to listen out for Hush the many playing in the background."Adam Adshead - Contactmusic.com “a truly inspired twin set of classically cultivated folk psyche that will leave a lasting impression and legacy for many years to come” Losing Today Magazine (about Song of a Page 7") :"a lovely line in delicately ramshackle acid-fried folk" BBC Collective "..sonorous, somnolent, building, winding, assuredly climbing to gradual, gentle crescendos, drifting codas, as drums are brushed, guitar replaces cello or morphs to lap-steel, words are suspended in air and 'Storyend' wraps us, enveloped, enthralled" Andy Inglis - The Fly "Hush the Many are a quartet who operate in that fabled half lit world that exists between classically lined soft psychedelia and the stranger more enticing and timeless elements of English folk. Absolutely perfect. Single of the Missive." Losing Today Magazine "Genius!" Jeremy Chick - Subba-Cultcha Magazine
