Queen Rose

VIOLINIST

About Me

Queen Rose, the First Lady on the violin can rock her instrument to Hip-Hop beats and R&B tunes like nobody else. She is classically trained and a great improviser on the violin, but also a singer and songwriter and a talented producer on top. Queen Rose runs her own music production company called Queen Rose Productions, Inc. and has produced and recorded songs with the greatest talents in the music industry today.
Queen Rose is currently working on her first album that is scheduled for release in spring 2009. The project will feature many of the great artists she became friends with through her work in the music scene.
Queen Rose is also a member of the Jambalaya Live Band that will soon start to play on the New York scene and has planned a European Tour to promote her album. Queen Rose does not stop here. Her company has formed a joint venture with Berlin based Hotspot Entertainment to create the music label Jambalaya Records to release her music to a broad audience and to help other artists to reach this level.
Rose grew up in a small rural town in Austria. In a musical family with 5 siblings she played anything she could get her hands on, falling in love with the violin. As a pre-teen she was concertmaster of the local Youth Orchestra and at age 13 she became a professional player with a local string quartet and orchestra. One year later she left home for the performing arts high school in Graz and at the same time she got accepted at the prestigious Music Academy to study classical music performance. After graduating from high school, Rose wanted to play Jazz and she started to study Jazz in Linz while finishing her classical studies with a Bachelor of Fine Arts.
But it was New York City that changed the life of this young and talented violinist. "It was love at first sight" Rose reflects about coming to the Big Apple for the first time. She was so much attracted by the energy of the city and the vibe of the music scene. Rose wanted to return and a scholarship for the Jazz and Contemporary Music Program at the New School University and a Rotary Ambassadorial Scholarship for the Long Island University made it possible.
Rose established herself as a classical violinist and started to play the local Jazz scene. She worked with such greats as Abbey Lincoln, Billy Hart and Butch Morris. Rose took the stage at the legendary Blue Note, Birdland, Village Vanguard, Jazz Gallery and Lincoln Center. She also toured to Europe with her own band. Her musical journey took her to play with different bands and diverse styles from African and Latin music to Urban Soul and Gospel. It was DJ Spooky who introduced her to Hip-Hop beats which gave her career a whole new direction.
