Where the dinosaurs roam...

About Me

.. MySpace Profile Help! Hi, I'm the American Museum of Natural History. I've lived here in New York City since 1869, when my first exhibitions appeared at the Central Park Arsenal. Soon after, I moved to my present home, at 77th St and Central Park West. The cornerstone of that building, designed by J.C. Cady & Co., was laid by President Ulysses Grant in 1874, and President Rutherford B. Hayes officiated at its formal opening in 1877.I love to meet and educate new people, young and old alike, and love to work on ground-breaking research in Anthropology and the Natural Sciences. Some of my favorite exhibits over the years have included Epidemic!: The World of Infectious Disease, The Nature of Diamonds, Body Art: Marks of Identity, Chocolate, Dinosaurs: Ancient Fossils New Discoveries, and of course the Butterfly Conservatory. (Subscribe to my blog and I'll keep you filled in on the latest exhibit news!) I'm also partial to the permanent exhibits in the Hall of Ocean Life, the Mammal Halls, and the Giant Sequoia in the Hall of North American Forests. Oh, and you HAVE to come see my newly opened Anne and Bernard Spitzer Hall of Human Origins - it's so amazing!Although I'm interested in worldwide travel, I'm pretty much a homebody, so my friends usually bring back cool specimens for me from their travels and expeditions.Jazz is one of my favorite kinds of music, and I try to catch a show in the Rose Center at least once a month, as I do with IMAX films. My best friend is a giant Blue Whale. We like to stay up late into the night talking about stuff like evolution, global warming, and the latest discoveries in paleontology. Stop by sometime and I'll introduce you to her.Hope you'll come visit soon!
