The band, originally named Exsecror, was born in Campobasso (Italy). At the beginning it was constituted by two members, Amon (vocals) and Saunitan (drums) that immediately started looking for other people to share their true black-metal project. In September 2002 the band was completed with the insertion of Eucles (guitars) and Hrim (bass guitar). Then the band name changed in Sakahiter. That term is taken from the Oscan language, and refers to the Samnites custom to immolate humans or animals to propitiate the gods before the battle. The Samnites were a warrior race native of a small zone located among three regions of South Italy: Molise, Campania and Basilicata. The Oscan has been chosen because is the ancient language that the Samnites spoke. In the cover of the mini cd is also reproduced an imagine that dates back to 1879: that scene represents the Samnites defeating and humbling the Romans. Lex sacrata, the first mini cd, has been recorded at Temple of Noise Studios, Rome, Italy, in January 2003. It contains 4 songs + intro of pure black metal style. After the cd release, the band had some italian tour dates both as headliner and as support to bands like Pandemia, Natron, Captivus Diaboli, and a four dates mini tour with Frostmoon Eclipse In January 2004 Luzyfer joined the band line up as second guitar in order to let Amon free to take care of vocals. Unfortunately some events make three of the five elements leave the band: in fact Saunitan, founder member, Eucles and Luzyfer leave the band at the end of 2004. They are soon substituted by L.P. Megerah on guitars and EversoR on drums, and its with this line up, which is still formed by Amon and Hrim as well, that the band enters again a recording studio, the 16th Cellar Studios in Rome, in order to record Omnes eiura deos, a 7 vinyl, and restarts the live activity, after some months of inactivity due to line up problems, with Flauros as second guitar, playing with bands like Sodom, Belphegor, Dismember, Sadist, Node, Hour Of Penance, Illogicist, Grimness... The band will be back in studio soon, to record the first full length. Stay tuned... SAMNITE BLACK METAL!!! Il gruppo nasce a Campobasso, col nome di Exsecror, dall'idea di Saunitan ed Amon di voler portare avanti un progetto di true black metal old style. Presto il duo comincia a produrre pezzi propri e si mette alla ricerca di altri componenti per la band. A Settembre 2002, il gruppo assesta la line-up con l'inserimento di Eucles alla chitarra e Hrim al basso, per prepararsi alla registrazione del demo. Viene abbandonato il vecchio moniker per omonimia con unaltra band, e al suo posto viene adottato Sakahiter, termine in lingua Osca, che vuol dire che sia sacrificato. Il termine indicava più nello specifico i sacrifici di uomini ed animali per propiziare gli dei prima di una battaglia, cerimonia molto radicata nei Sanniti. L'Osco è stato scelto perché è lantica lingua proprio dei Sanniti, popolo guerriero originario di una zona ristretta del centro sud Italia che aveva il cuore proprio tra Molise, Campania e Basilicata. Il gruppo estende anche all'iconografia il tributo a questa popolazione, utilizzando per la copertina del demo un'incisione del 1879 raffigurante la sconfitta dei Romani, proprio per mano dei Sanniti, e l'umiliazione delle Forche Caudine. Le registrazioni di "Lex sacrata" vengono effettuate nei Temple Of Noise Studios di Christian Ice, a Roma, dal 13 al 17 Gennaio 2003. Il demo contiene 4 pezzi più un'intro per un totale di 23 minuti di assoluto black metal. Subito dopo l'uscita del cd il gruppo ha iniziato l'attività live suonando un po' in tutta Italia sia come headliner che come supporto a gruppi tipo Pandemia, Natron, Captivus Diaboli, fino ad arrivare ad organizzare un mini tour di quattro date con i Frostmoon Eclipse. Nel Gennaio del 2004 entra in formazione Luzyfer alla seconda chitarra per permettere ad Amon di occuparsi solo delle vocals. Purtroppo una serie di eventi porta tre dei cinque membri ad abbandonare il gruppo, ed è così che Saunitan, membro fondatore, Eucles e Luzyfer lasciano la band sul finire del 2004. Vengono subito rimpiazzati da L.P. Megerah alla chitarra e EversoR alla batteria, ed è con questa formazione, che vede sempre Amon e Hrim a portare avanti il gruppo, che la band è tornata in studio, nei 16th Cellar Studios, sempre a Roma, per registrare "Omnes eiura deos", un 7" su vinile, ed ha ripreso l'attività live, ferma da tempo proprio per motivi di line up, con l'ingresso di Flauros alla seconda chitarra, suonando con band come Sodom, Belphegor, Dismember, Sadist, Node, Hour Of Penance, Illogicist, Grimness... È previsto il ritorno in studio verso la prima metà del 2008 per le registrazioni del primo full length. Stay tuned... SAMNITE BLACK METAL!!!
