Bonjour! My name is Laura O'Reilly- I got knick named "Miz Metro" by Lady Sovereign at the Winter Music Conference in 06 when I interviewed her for Panjea.com and I had the door knocker Metro Card earrings I made on. She texted me the next day, "Nice to meet you Miss Metrocard...etc" I dropped the ss and the card, and was to be Miz Metro- the rest is history. I'm 21 years old, going on 102- you get a lot of life experience growing up in NYC, that's for sure. I attended LaGuardia H.S of the Performing Arts for acting, where I also studied jazz singing and song writing. I took some time off after high school to audition and develop my music.
Right now I'm studying New Media and Music Composition at SUNY Purchase college. I am training my self as a new breed of musical artist, a new-media artist. I want to tell stories through music, images, visuals and beyond. Be on the look out for Urban Gypsy Circus the online multi-media T.V network, my baby is growing up. I have a love for the future and a need to studying the past, "I'm from the past and the future". I love Charlie Chaplin and Judy Garland, I have an affection, a love affair with show business- the highs the lows, backstage, the bond with your cast, crew, I love all of it.
New York City has raised me, I've played on her streets, danced to her music-pushed in her traffic, and cried on her benches. I love this city and the art it inspires, that is why I'm Miz Metro. I hope you enjoy my music, I write all my lyrics and melodies and have a team of very talented producers and musicians that I work with- whom I couldn't have done any of this with out. I'm excited for the future, I like where the music business is going. I hope to carve out a place in this crazy biz for myself and others who share my goals, which are to inspire, explore, encourage people to think for themselves and to be working on my craft till the day I die.
"Rounding off the group of street style performers known as The Fuse, Miz Metro steps up to sing. She carries on the fashion trend of the night wearing a satin ruffled track jacket over a long, sheer and sparsely sequined dress, finishing off the look with fish nets and sneakers. But it isn't her sense of style that pulls in the audience. Her powerful, controlled voice blends with and rises above the music to bring her message of social change. The members finally join together for a final closing number and the performance is over way too soon. Fortunately, they frequent such venues as The Bowery Poetry Cafe and Galapagos Art Space. And if you're lucky you may catch an impromptu performance in Washington Square Park or even on a subway platform." (Club Planet Review: Pure Project Art Show by Sarah Duffus)
