Last few copies (literally!) of 'COVER MY DREAMS' still available at gigs...get 'em while you can!
Rachael Wright is a bright young singer songwriter from Liverpool. Following the single 'Healer' & the E.P. 'Cover My Dreams', spring 2008 finally sees the release of her eagerly anticipated full-length debut album. From far & wide Rachael is quickly gaining admiration & acclaim for her poignantly beautiful voice & her brilliantly crafted songs alike. With her band Rachael produces performances that are effortlessly engaging & captivating, gathering new fans everywhere she goes.
In her own words, "I've been writing songs since I was about 19. I've always loved words; reading them, forming them, using them to frame emotions & feelings & using them to tell people what I really meant to say!". Rachael is inspired by the delicate and powerful poetry of artists like Suzanne Vega & Joni Mitchell to write songs that are alive with meaning, not just melody, musical dynamic & depth.
"I aim for simple, beautiful melodies", she says. The bands unique sound is centred on acoustic guitars, swelled with bass, harmonies, glockenspiel & the odd bit of harmonica. Rachael's songs are built around themes like nature, love, spirituality & the sea. They draw influences from people like; Gillian Welch, Gemma Hayes, Tori Amos, Beth Orton, Counting Crows, Sheryl Crow, Damien Rice, Nick Cave & even Aerosmith according to Rachael!
Two good men have been with Rachael since the beginning, Tim & Bob, bringing their own skills and influences to complete the Rachael Wright sound. 2005 saw the band testing the local waters and developing the sound that was translated into the 'Healer' single & then developed that into the successful EP 'Cover My Dreams'. The last year or so has seen Rachael touring the EP the length & breadth of the country with the CD selling fast everywhere she went!
This year has seen Rachael & the boys preparing & subsequently recording the debut album, due for release late 2007. They are still gigging regularly though so look out for dates near you.
