Influences: Musically - Just about every "Classic Rock" Band but especially Jethro Tull and including Cream, Free, Led Zep, Jimi Hendrix, Deep Purple, Black Sabbath, King Crimson, Wild Turkey, Man, Sensational Alex Harvey Band, Rory Gallagher, Mountain, Blodwyn Pig, Peter Green's Fleetwood Mac, Yes, ELP, Edgar Broughton, Family, Robin Trower, The Groundhogs, e.t.c. with a passing nod to Fairport Convention, Richard Thompson, Roy Harper, Neil Young, John Martyn, Jerry Donaghue for our violin soirees and BB King and Muddy Waters for the blues. In fact anything played from the heart and with conviction is ok by us....just turn it up! Also admitting to being musically influenced by each other as the band has become a close knit bunch of chaps in recent years...roadies and family members most definitely included included!Socially - You mean apart from close family members and as Patrick says - not forgetting the importance of making lots of interesting new friends on myspace..Being alive and waking up in the morning, nice genuine people of all ages, respect, good manners, sunshine, holidays and travel, ice cream, chocolate, cricket, good sci fi especially Star Trek[Davyd even has a suit] The Invaders, Lord of the Rings, Conan, Hammer Horrors, reading, masses of humour, british eccentricity and lets not forget the ladies!!!! attendees of the annual Cropredy Festival in Oxfordshire, England and Tull Conventions worldwide. Rob's big blue tour bus for those longer journeys through the night and the John Cleese SatNav he befriends, good food in abundance - vege if you happen to be Davyd, meat for the rest of the band/crew, wildlife in all its varied forms as long as there is a world to live in.... What a wonderful World.
Dislikes - timewasters, bullshitters, disrespect on all levels, small town cliques, dishonesty, broken promises and negativity as well as computor programmes that don't work, beaurocracy, political correctness, 0800 numbers, football, traffic jams, speed cameras and icy roads especially throughout Derbyshire. Time to cue in a u tube moment - Cold Flame and others at Weyfest 2007.
Sounds Like:
Wherever Cold Flame play, the immediate reaction from promoters and punters alike is that the chaps provide something very different to the majority of acts treading the boards...quite what that is is less easy to define though an ability to enjoy live performance is clearly to the fore. Cold Flame certainly have an individual sound (think Jethro Tull meets Deep Purple and Free at Cropredy full of Monty Python and you will get a rough idea) Why not come along to a gig and make your own mind up and check out the band's cd and tshirt merchandise on the website shop whilst you are at it... Bring the family who may even be invited on stage as this has been known to happen on more than one occasion. Classic rock brought screaming right up to date with a touch of the blues in the 21st century and beyond no matter what the consequences with hearts and wallets firmly secured. Keeps the band young and out of trouble and on a good night puts wide grins on slightly ageing faces. Recently maybe just to protect sensitive but very cute ears, certain members of the band have indulged in some extra curricular acoustic soirees.
