About Me

April 6, 2008
Oh the projects! Ever since we moved in to the Newberg house it has been pretty steady. I must admit that we are gluttons for home improvement though, so a great deal is self-inflicted. First there was painting the fireplace all fancy like. Then a "quick" bathroom remodel with tile floors, wood paneling on the walls and a new vanity/sink.
I know I spoke of new recordings back in February and as of yet there are none. They are on the way though I assure you!
I did manage to put together 3 new watercolor and ink pieces. I’m just calling these the "Notes" series. Here is the second one, which features a harp...

As an artist and musician I take my influences from many places. I got to meet Ralph Steadman (Artist for Hunter S Thompson’s Gonzo movement) a few summer’s ago and he actually drew a picture of me. It was the most star-struck I have ever been. I had asked him to "sign" my sketchbook and he just grabbed the book and started drawing this portrait. It is framed on my wall and I will cherish that day forever.

- A Place For Sketches -

I sat and tried to remember where it was that I drew this sketch but I just can’t recall. Its recent though, from "08.

My good friend Sean made this frame for my wife and I, as a wedding present. He told me to fill it with my artwork and hang it some where that it can be admired. That way the collective energy of our creativity can make a joyful noise for the whole world to hear. I love this frame, thanks a million Sean!

Guitar Notes - Watercolor/Ink

Sounds Like: Any musician must give some credit for their sound to the instruments they play. I like to think that my sound is made more unique by the 2 guitars that I've built. The most recent addition to my collection is an 8-String Bass.

A Bass Called Seuss...

The Mushroom Guitar - aka "Jacqui"

This guitar was built roughly 4 years ago. It was my first build and I play it on most of the electric guitar parts in any of my current recordings. It features a standard Gibson Les Paul electronics configuration and the Seymour Duncan hum-buckers give me a great full sound, and sing-song leads in the bridge position. I named it after my Fiance' who I had just met when I was building this guitar.
