Celebrating Alice Cooper Band's 40th Anniversary!

About Me

************************************************************ *Although I have played in a few bands and have sometimes filled-in for others, I presently do not belong to one. If you'd care to see a more in-depth bio about me personally, please visit my website at http://www.auradirect.com/larrysguitars.html, but for the purpose of this site I will just say that some of the music you are listening to from the mp3 player above was recorded, mixed, and engineered by me...that's one major reason the audio quality is not as good as the EMP tunes which were mixed and produced by either MarkE or Graham from the EMP band in their respective studios.I record my music at home using my PC. I play a variety of acoustic and electric guitars, an electronic keyboard, and a digital drum box. Some of my drum tracks come from the keyboard while others are from my drum box. I have been playing bass guitar lines using the bass guitar voice settings on my keyboard, however I recently purchased my own bass guitar and will be utilizing it in future recordings. For me it all starts with a concept. Most of my own songs begin their lives on an acoustic guitar or the keyboard. After I have the overall general idea of the song conceived I program a basic drumbeat pattern to play along with...which, for the most part, is usually edited in post production to get away from the generic straight drum beat pattern without any fills, flams, rolls, or crashing cymbols. In the past I have recorded all of my tracks in wave form on my PC by plugging straight into my sound card...SoundBlaster Audigy Platinum 2, using Steinburg WaveLab to record the waves. The bizarre part is that I mix all of my waves on a Video editing program...Magix Video Deluxe.Things have improved, however, as I have recently aquired some digital recording gear. I now have a Korg D3200 digital recorder that will do just about everything under the sun. And now, instead of the $15.99 LabTec headset mic I now have a Samson Studio Condensor Mic! We're moving up in the world! :) I also have a much nicer drum box, the Boss DR-880.Ok, that is a general overview of what I'm doing. I really don't hold out any hope or asparations of making anything of myself in the music business. I'm a bit on the old and crusty side and not very marketable in terms of my looks...you won't be seeing THIS mug of mine on the cover of any magazines to be sure.Anyways...I hope you enjoy my tunage. I do cover songs...most of what I do is cover songs...but I do have some original songs which will appear in my player from time to time. Please take the time to rate the songs you listen to and give me some feedback in message form.ThanksLC*********************************************** ************** We Can Work It Out Cover

Band Members: Larry Curtis - Acoustic Guitars, Electric Guitars, Keyboards, Drum Programming, MIDI Editing, and Graphic Artwork. (Yea, I'm hogging the show here...this is really a three-piece band, Me, Myself, and I...but I likes to hog the spotlight for some reason) ************************************************************ ************************************************************ ************************************************************ ************************************************************ More Hot Sauce

Influences: John, Paul, George, and Ringo were the BIGGEST influences in my early musical development. I learned to play the guitar to their records. After the Beatles broke up, I became a big fan of James Taylor's music. Later Jethro Tull filled that void for me which was left by the Beatles, as Ian Anderson and Martin Barre began influencing the way I approached my guitar playing and the sounds I wanted to achieve. But if I did not give a nod to the likes of Kansas, Led Zeppelin, Eric Clapton, ZZ Top, James Gang (with and without Joe Walsh), Pink Floyd, Alan Parsons, Alice Cooper, BTO, Santana, Crosby Stills Nash & Young, and a host of others, I'd be wrong.****************************************************** ******* ************************************************************ * ************************************************************ * ************************************************************ * ************************************************************ *
Sounds Like: You decide. I have been influenced by several different genres, but my favorite is good ole Classic Rock n Roll! When I play covers I usually make an attempt to emulate the artist I'm covering, but normally leave some indication that I've added my own little unique something to the tune...most of the time THAT equals a mistake or two, or fifty...LOL!******************************************
Record Label: None, but I have hopes of someday having my own.
