Get Funked Radio is a multi-genre defying collaborative project from a metal station owner with the desire to create an alternative little spot where we could express and share our love of Funk, R&B, Jazz, and Hip Hop and our eclectic taste in the tunes we love of today and those classics of yesterday. At the present we have launched our station on Live 365 and as we grow we plan to bring it up to a live commercial free stream. Each month we would like to feature and promo a band in our player. SAKSHI - I and BARAKA
(Reggae-Hiphop Bhajan Band
Known by many as SAKSHI-I or Sakshi Gopal Das. Sakshi-I means the Higher I Witness. The Most I ~ He was initiated into the ancient Vedic Order of the Gaudiya Vaishnava Sampradaya, which teaches and practices the ancient (Hari-Nama) Mantra Meditation of Sacred Chanting of Holy Names for Spiritual Healing and Enlightenment. Has been living Rastafari Natural Mystic Lifestyle and Vegetarian for over 9 years. He lived and studied with many Elders and Mystics (including Ras Pidow). Lived and studied at several Ashrams, Temples, and Binghi Camps across North America, Jamaica, Bahamas, Hawaii, and India. In the summers of 2002 and 2003 he traveled across N. America with a traveling cultural festival called "The Festival of India" in which he was a main contributer of set-up and break-down, cultural plays, food distribution, chariot-parading, and sacred chanting.He has been in several musical projects, and is presently a Lead-singer in BARAKA (Reggae-Hiphop Bhajan Band), The RASTAFARI Nyahbinghi Livity Choir, and the Indiana University African American Choral Ensemble. Sakshi has lead Sacred Chants, Nyahbinghi, and Kirtan/Bhajans at many cultural festivals, gatherings, and yoga centers around the US, Hawaii, and India for over 9 years.A student at Indiana University, with an individualized major called: Comparitive Mythos, Ritual, and Sacred Sound. He is also working presently on a Bachlors in Parapsychic Sciences at the American Institute of Holistic Theology (AIHT).Reiki and Sound Healer, Inspired Poet, Singer, and Musician. Sakshi has formed a local ministry and leads group healing sessions called "Toning the Chakras" which incorporates Toning (Healing Voice) and Crystal Singing Bowls.He is also a multi-cultural cook and initiated the first All-Vegetarian Meal Plan at a Bloomington Day-care Center called the BDLC (Bloomington Developmental Learning Center).Sakshi was recently blessed with his Reggae-HipHop band BARAKA to perform at the Art of Living Silver Jubilee, which was one of the largest Interfaith and Human Values conferences in history, in Bangalore, India this last Febuary 2006. STYXXOPLIX
Styxx is a member of Prophets of Rage and has his debut album-Feel Lost for Free- available on private press and is working on his 2nd album which will be called- Vocabulary Laboratory. He is also a member of the Land Pirates.
Styxx (as Michell is known) came on board the Land Pirates project in late 2005. Styxx spent most of his adolescence in Germany as a military child. There he became involved in a hardcore band called Hyperactive Zombies. He then was a member of Prophets of Rage, a German experimental hip-hop crew that released two records in the mid-90s. (You can watch a young Styxx in several Prophets of Rage videos on YouTube.com.) Returning to the states in Florida, Styxx was then part of a hardcore jazz fusion group (Mysterioso) that, in his words, played “dark carnival music.†Styxx landed in Fort Wayne in 2004 where he hooked up with JoJo of Unseen Handz before joining the Land Pirates. In addition to his work with Land Pirates, Styxx also does solo work and remains active in Unseen Handz projects. Land Pirates are on the verge of releasing their first full-length locally. Pre-production versions of the CD are available at their shows.
