Carmel (20) and Heather (19) began writing songs about 6 years ago. They had been to a Kate Rusby concert in Glossop - and were so inspired by Kate that they set about developing their own creative talents further.
In the years since the concert they have built on their strengths and are now composing and performing songs which include some lovely harmonies and instantly memorable melodies.
"Love is patient, love is kind" was a special song written for a family wedding in summer 2004, and it was this track that led to the development of their debut album "Away my tears".
"Hey, hey" is a track which has a melody that haunts you for days whilst "Paint me a perfect day" was written during a memorable journey over the Pennines on a snowy January day in early 2005.
Have a listen to the songs - and let us know what you think.

Carmel Parry was born in February 1987, her sister Heather in October 1988. From an early age the sisters began to play keyboard and brass instruments and sing both solo and in choirs. Their talents were not confined to music - both became accomplished gymnasts and swimmers.:

CARMEL

Early in 2003 Carmel and Heather (then aged 16 and 15) began songwriting as an extension of their enthusiasm for writing poetry and playing music. Their first "proper" song, "Happy again" was well-received by family and friends, and in February 2003 they made their first visit to "Shipwreck Studios" in Glossop to record the track. During 2003 they continued to write further songs, influenced by their love of bands and singers like The Corrs, Kate Rusby, Dido and Sarah McLachlan.:

HEATHER

In 2004 the pair were asked to sing at their cousin's wedding during the church ceremony. The girls set about writing "Love is patient, love is kind" for the special occasion. In May the song was recorded. Several copies were ordered, and one of these was given to a music teacher at the college both girls attended. The teacher was so impressed that she played it for several colleagues.:

MORGAN LE FAYE

In late May 2004 Colin Orr, a teacher of A level Music Technology at the College (and long-time leading member of rock band ": Janus: ") was on the lookout for a talented female singer. He had been asked to create and submit a "Celtic" track to his agent Michael in Germany. His colleagues at the College recommended not one but two "very talented" sisters - Carmel and Heather.:

:

COLIN

Colin listened to the CD, contacted the girls immediately, and so began the work on the very first collaborative track "Inner You", based loosely on an old traditional Gaelic/Scottish folk song "Eriskay Love Lilt", Together they devised some beautiful harmonies and a haunting melody to supplement the instrumentals of Colin Orr It was sent to Michael - who immediately demanded two more tracks and then a full album.:

RIKKI

THEA

So it was back into the studio to continue the work on "Ghost ships" and "Spirit of the morn", and a re-recorded version of "Love is patient, love is kind". Now joined by multi-talented musician and singer Ben Stafford, Morgan Le Faye continued their writing and recording to progress the work towards their debut: album.:

BEN

"Only love" - a more upbeat track with close harmonies and an elegant violin, "Sit down and listen" - with a superb guitar solo by Colin and also featuring Ben with backing vocals, and "Hey hey" were the next three tracks, closely followed by "Foretold" - again including backing vocals of Ben Stafford. Two more tracks ("Paint me a perfect day" plus "Don't ask me why"), with the band sounding better than ever, were written and recorded early in 2005. :

CHRIS

Later in the year ..David Blaine.. was recorded with lead vocals from Heather. The album was completed, and copies were sent to contacts. The whole album was received very well by friends and family who could not get the melodies out of their heads!:

In July 2005 Morgan Le Faye, now joined by Thea and Rikki Hanson-Orr, took part in a World Record attempt for the longest recording marathon. This featured unsigned bands from the Manchester area. Each band had an hour to record their songs, and the whole marathon lasted 24 hours. The record was broken and 12 of the best tracks were released on CD, MLF..s ..Paint Me a Perfect Day.. was one of them. :

In March 2006, MLF created a web page on ..Myspace.. and included 4 of their tracks for people to listen to. Within a couple of weeks the tracks, with hey Hey leading in the number of plays, were topping the Folk Rock and Folk charts for unsigned artists, not only in the North west but also (on 1: st: May) in the World! :

In September 2006 the track "Paint me a perfect day" was included on the compilation album "Mystic Spirits vol. 15" by ZYX records - :

Then in October 2006 the debut album from Morgan Le Faye was made available for download worldwide via iTunes and many other download sites. Who knows what could happen next! ....................
