About Me

Born and raised in Pawtucket, Rhode Island, Joe Goyette has been writing songs and poetry since the age of about 14. He grew up in a house filled with music and most of his five siblings sing and or play instruments or teach music. Joe is a self taught musician who learned to play and sing listening to all different types of music on the radio.Joe started to record his music in 1991, but "Man Down On The Street", which was written in 2003, "This Road", which was written in 2006, and the promise in 2007 while not recorded in a studio like the rest of Joes songs and slightly rough, they are heartfelt and thoughtful. "This Road" was written as a dedication to one of Joe's greatest vocal heroes, BJ Thomas. "The Promise" was written about the legacy of love in Joe's family.Joes songs focus on melody lines and creative lyrics that dont just rhyme, they have meaning. His songs take the listener on a musical journey through space and time and leaves them ever so gently in a better place.Joe not only loves writing music, he appreciates other talented artists. You will see frequent posts in support of other artists from Joe, but these are for the love of music and not for profit in any way. Joe has great respect for the people who had the courage to take the road less traveled and pursue their dreams. It is tougher than ever to be successful in the music business and these artists have great courage.Joe receive so many questions on where people can purchase Alexa's and BJ Thomas' music, that he added these links to assist people with that. Joe lives in Cranston, Rhode Island and is happily married to Christine Goyette with whom he has four beautiful children.

My Interests

Music:

Band Members: Joe Goyette (songwriter, singer, keyboards) Scott Marshall (guitars and recording) Ned Kemble (co-wrote man down on the street) Billy Baldesare (drums on man down on the street) David Wildenhein (bass on man down on the street). Brad Griffing (co-wrote "The Promise" wrote all background music and played guitar). Special thanks to Ned Kemble for his inspiration, friendship and help in recording. Thank you to Gres Arsenault for his assistance with recording the two track demo of "This Road."
Influences: Mostly Billy Joel and Elton John, but also Paul McCartney, Queen, Styx, Boston, Aerosmith, B.J. Thomas (please listen to my song This Road written for BJ Thoms), Composer Steve Dorff, Eric Carmen, Elvis Presely, Ray Charles, Johnny Cash, Roy Orbison, Jerry Lee Lewis, Carol King, Carly Simon, Glenn Campbell, Amy Grant, Randy Newman, Barry Manilow, James Taylor, Little River Band, Doobie Brothers, Led Zeppelin, Journey, Beaver Brown, Stevie Wonder and way too many to list. My father, who plays organ and piano and who taught me so much about the history of music, showtunes, older music and gave me an appreciation for Rogers and Hammerstein, Rogers and Hart, George M. Cohan, who is from Providence, George Gershwin, Cole Porter, Julie Andrews, Mario Lanza, Judy Garland, Kathryn Grayson and so many of the past greats. Yes, I like Zeppelin, and I like show tunes and I don't care who knows it. Few of my generation, and even fewer younger people have a sense of musical history, which is rather sad.JOEL LIGHTMAN BAND: Every Street Corner

Imagine a grand piano thrown from a ten storey window and hitting the pavement, accompanied by soaring melodies, rampant - infectious beats underscored by beautifully crafted songwriting gilted with undeniable flair and style.

Sounds Like: People want to place you in a box and say you sound like. Obviously, all influences go into the hopper, but what comes out of most artists is usually pretty unique. I'd like to think that the same could be said of my material. There are traces of Elton John and Billy Joel in there, but I sound more like me than I do anyone else.
