Sanctified Gospel Choir

About Me

Sanctified Gospel Choir was formed in April 2003 and had their debut performance in the Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts (LIPA) on Monday 9th June 2003 to a sold out Paul McCartney Auditorium. The choir was official formed to fulfil the degree criteria for the BA Music course at LIPA and was formed by the director Ian Davidson (myspace.com/ianjdavidson). Unofficially, Sanctified had been a vision that Ian had had for a number of years and the degree at LIPA gave him the opportunity to act on that vision. The choir have been together for just over 3 years and its been an interesting training ground. Members have come and gone, the vision for the choir has changed or evolved and in the midst of all this they managed to win the Best Newcomer Choir 2004 at the Gospel Entertainment Music (GEM) Awards which was a huge honour. Sanctified prides itself on being a choir made up of friends who worship at two different churches in Liverpool; Temple of Praise in Anfield and Frontline in Wavertree. The choir is culturally diverse with members from Africa and the UK and there is a real bond of fellowship that is brought about through the united faith of choir and not (thankfully) through political correctness. The choir now believe that they are ready to embark upon a new chapter which is firmly routed in Praise and Worship. Sanctified's vision is two-fold, one, to serve the church and encourage Christians to express themselves freely in worship regardless of what culture or tradition they come from; and two, to evangelise the Gospel of Jesus Christ amongst the wider community. The choir is currently working on their own Praise and Worship material and ultimately will release an album in the not too distant future.
