The funniest person in the bar is rarely the happiest

About Me

Nutcase! Followed the Levellers extensively since 1993, I think the count is now 280 gigs. Countries in which I've seen them play: Belgium, Czech Rep., France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, United States. And of course right across the UK, from the Lizard Peninsula in the extreme south-west to the Orkney Islands in the extreme north-east!
After a couple of years unemployment, I have just been offered a new job, and will soon be taking up residence in the English Midlands.

My Interests

I play guitars, drums and bass. I've played in various amatuer bands for over 15 years, though mainly doing solo folky stuff right now. I've done just about every job you could think of relating to live music as an amateur/semi-pro.
I'm also into sport although don't play anything anymore (rock'n'roll!) and contarary to popular opinion, the greatest football club on Merseyside is Tranmere Rovers.

I'd like to meet:

Sara Watkins, Nickel Creek's fiddle player. Isn't she so cute?

Music:

10000 Maniacs; 3 Daft Monkeys; Alabama 3; All About Eve; The Beatles; Tim Booth; Johnny Cash; Chumbawamba; The Clash; The Coral; The Doors; Bob Dylan; Echo And The Bunnymen; Fairground Attraction; Happy Mondays; The House Of Love; The Housemartins; James; Joy Division; The La's; Led Zeppelin; Levellers; The Mission UK; Christy Moore; Morrissey; Neck; Neil Young; Nickel Creek; Nirvana; Paul Simon (legend!); The Pogues; R.E.M.; Rev Hammer; Sex Pistols; Simon & Garfunkel (legends!); The Smiths; The Stone Roses; early U2; The Velvet Underground; The Waterboys; The Wonder Stuff; The Zutons. That job was made easier by running through my iTunes - after my Martin, my iPod is second most amazing posession! (It's also broke and, apparently, in need of a new hard drive!)

Movies:

Pulp Fiction, Seven, The Usual Suspects, Shawshank Redemption, Life Of Brian, National Lampoon's Animal House

Television:

Blackadder, The Office, Peter Kaye, Steve Coogan/Alan Partridge, Porridge, Only Fools And Horses - and - lots of news!

Books:

Biographies/autobiographies are my thing, especially musically connected ones. Currently reading U2 by U2. Lemmy's White Line Fever could be next. Although there's loads of Led Zep books I need to read. Other than that I am not a great reader unfortunately, to the point that I'd describe myself as iliterit... Or is it disslecksick? See, I knew I should have read more books instead of riding my bike!

Heroes:

Keith Richards, Keith Moon, Keith Chegwin, Keith Floyd, Bob "Keith" Dylan (as he is sometimes known), Mr. Benn (who's first name was Keith, a little-known fact); and Benny Hill, once upon a time the world's greatest living comedian, now sadly dead. And not forgetting Ralph McTell of course.
