No Rest For The Wicked is a breath of fresh air for clubbers and live music fans alike. This monthly night held at East London's Rhythm Factory features the finest up and coming bands on the drum and bass and breakbeat scene.
“I never thought I liked drum and bass until I saw it played by a live band!â€
We're looking forward to another year of sickenly good live acts and shinanigans down at the Rhythm factory, so if you've not made it down yet, make it your priority for this year!
NRFTW was the first night of it’s kind, strictly dedicated to live dnb bands and has brought together this blossoming underground scene and showcased it to the world.
From a mere 8 bands in 2001 to over 50 now in 2008, live drum and bass has quickly grown into a genre of its own. Over the last century we have seen musical genres emerge in line with changes in technology. In the last 30 years particularly, we have seen electronic instruments create new and exciting genres, almost eclipsing traditional instruments. In this time a new generation of music listeners and musicians have been born, a generation that has absorbed all these weird and wonderful influences from both sides. Now in the new millennium, as trends turn back towards rock and guitar based music, we see a new scene emerging, possibly the first scene to fully embrace both traditional and electronic instruments.
We'd like to meet other Live drum and Bass Bands and people who like the music and want to help push this exciting new scene forward. Check out this Video of how to play live dnb by London Elektricity
