About Me

S.F.R was formed quite some time ago when the members met up in High School, originally made up of Will Atkinson (on Bass and vocals), Joe Watson (on guitar and vocals) and Matt "Averz" Atherton (on drums). After months of disputes, finally culminating in a disastrous performance at the school's Battle of the Bands, Matt decided to leave the band for good in April 2005, yet within a week of his departure, drumming legend James Morris (formerly of This Could Be Error) had filled the gap.
With Mozza on board, the band started writing song after song of their own, and have since played numerous gigs in and around Warrington and Newton-le-Willows, beginning with their live November 2005 debut at the Pyramid Centre, several appearances at the Penketh Legion, and also featured on the bill for the Pigfest punk festival (April 28-30th 2006) held at Hollins Park.
Following on from a string of successful shows, including reaching the Semi Finals of the Griffin BOTB in Earlestown, and inciting a few riotous stage invasions at Warrington's Club Casi, S.F.R joined Merseyrock, a well-known punk/rock promotions company based around the Warrington/Newton area who the band had gigged through many times in the past, and will continue to gig with in the future.
Building an ever-growing circle of new friends and fans, and having shared stages with such local luminaries as dBd, Roughneck Riot, D.O.A.N and Fixxxer over the months, the band have had a successful year so far, playing over 30 shows to date all around the Warrington and Merseyside areas. As well as this, the band featured briefly in the "Spaceman" section of the March/April issue of Warrington Music Collective's WIRED magazine, as well as recorded and release their first studio EP, the 5-track "No Resolution" in June 2007, having already gained a reputation on record from old rough garage demos given out at some of their earlier shows. So far the new EP has sold quite well, receiving a lot of good feedback and positive acclaim; in fact the opening song to this EP, "Who Needs a Jesus (When We've Got the Guns)", is due to appear on an upcoming compilation being put together by Manchester Record label/Promotion company SLit Records, hopefully spreading the band's name and reputation further out into the Manchester area.
Taking influences from such bands as Rancid, The Clash and Bad Religion, S.F.R's burgeoning list of original material ranges from the older "(Take back) What you said" and "Head Case" and the newer hardcore thrashes of "Direction" and "Who Needs a Jesus?" to the anthemic showstopper "One for All" and the Irish ballad-esque live favourite, "Johnny had a girlfriend".
