Sign up to our mailing list!! Join our Street Team!!

If you're interested in our artists' CDs, tour info and general news as well as the chance to win yourself some goodies in our competitions, why not sign up to our newsletter?
Or you can sign up to our street team! If you're passionate about music and spreading the word about any of the fantastic artists we deal with then this could be a great opportunity for you to become a Propergandist- in return for your services we will give you free CDs and gig tickets!
We need enthusiastic people to help us with:
• postering, flyering and getting people to sign up for mailing lists at your local venues,
• checking the availability of our releases/magazines at your local record stores,
• in the virtual world sending out posts and bulletins about upcoming releases and events (don't worry if you don't know much about programming as we will be sending you all the relevent code).
Also occasionally:
• requesting songs on your local radio by phone/internet,
• requesting articles about the band in your local magazines by internet/post.
So if you're interested contact us on [email protected] with your name, location (including any venues you regularly visit or are willing to travel to) and musical preferences. Feel free to tell us anything else about yourself, because we want to get to know you if you're willing to help us out!
Don't forget; free CDs and free gigs!

Before you add us:

This page has been set up so that we can keep in touch with the acts we distribute and the people who like them. If you're a band looking for distribution, you can contact us directly by scrolling down.
Unfortunately so many bands are adding us without looking at the site first (or checking out the kind of music that we usually deal with) that we've had to bar bands from adding us, as we're getting swamped daily with hundreds of distribution requests from groups in every genre imaginable (and some unimaginable!). This way we can spend more time using this page to keep up to date with the people who like what we do.
Sorry for the hassle, but if you're a band or musician and you'd still like to add us, send us a message right now!

About Us:

Hi, we’re Proper Music Distribution, the largest independent music distributor in the UK (An independent distributor being one who's sales and distribution are actually done by those who own the company).

We’re the folks who keep your local record shops stocked up with all the roots, country, folk, jazz, bluegrass, reggae and Americana releases by many of the artists you’ll find in our friends list.

We’re a hands-on bunch, too. If you’re a folkie, you’ve almost certainly seen our record stall at the Cambridge Festival. Or you might have read Properganda , our quarterly free reviews & features magazine at your local music venue or record shop. Otherwise you can usually find us in the audience at any of our artist’s gigs most nights of the week.

We don’t just deal with the specialist stuff either. Our Import Department can source and supply a huge amount of releases from all over the world with an astonishing turnaround time. Anything from hip-hop to emo to lounge to grindcore to dubstep to chill-out can pass through our doors on a daily basis.

We supply music to everyone from Amazon, HMV, Zavvi, supermarket chains and music festivals right down to the good old cosy independent stores, many of which we support via our innovative Proper Partner scheme.

Being independent means we can distribute up-and-coming new artists who the bigger labels are too slow to pick up on, as well as cutting deals with major artists who prefer the personal touch we can offer. Our Proper Access initiative has been a major boost to many of the smaller labels or bands looking for distribution in the UK.

From Prince to Jamie Cullum, Dolly Parton to Show Of Hands, Public Enemy to Bellowhead, our commitment to providing the highest quality service to the most diverse selection of artists and labels – with the unfoolable music-loving public as our judges – has cemented our reputation as the UK’s number one independent distributor.

We have an online blog you can check out for special news and general music stuff and you can check our website and sign up to our mailing list for news and tour info on our extensive roster of artists, as well as competitions and more...
