LIKES: Daydreaming, Playing fiddle, Good gigs, Music in general, Being in good company, Laughter, The moon and stars, 'Lush' - the smelly shop with stinky treats to make my nose happy, nice cups of TEA, Indulging in loony-esque activities (healthy for the soul, I promise!), art and writing, languages, the feeling of being on stage, meeting interesting people, French-ness, the word FOOLIGAN, IRELAND, philosophy, laa dee daa...
Plenty more, plenty more my dears...
DISLIKES: Being asked "what I want to be", Piano tutors who talk to their CAT rather than teach you...said teacher's CAT which I'm SURE was once plotting my downfall, dishonesty, my own shyness and tendency to make a fool out of myself - oh well, c'est la vie!
Eileen Ivers; my main inspiration for taking up the fiddle, and any other amazing fiddle players for that matter.
Yann Tiersen.
Myself 10 years ago and myself 10 years into the future
And while we're dreaming lets add in the BOOSH men and Derren Brown (again!)
But really, I consider myself extremely lucky to know all the people I currently do know, specifically those involved with my music. =)
OK, I'm done, heh.
Have some BOOSH. I would actually MARRY the moon.I am a musical sponge, and am open to all sorts of musical genres, having QUITE the music collection as a result.
Traditional music from around the world is my main addiction, particularly IRISH.
I also love listening to Scottish, English, French, Swedish...the list goes on.
On top of that there's ambient, jazz, rock, classical, indie, ska, bluegrass...
With the exception of chav-music I think I can appreciate something from every genre.
I will always love...
Eileen Ivers' fiddle playing
Yann Tiersen’s compositions. He is my favourite musical person EVER.
Jon Boden’s voice ... and his many other projects such as Bellowhead and Spiers and Boden are v.good too!
Chris Thile's mando playing
Aly Bain and Phil Cunningham, esp the banter! (for nostalgic reasons)
Anyhoo, others I listen to are...
Beoga, Sigur Ros, Frigg, Vasen, Sheelanagig, Joanna Newsom, Liz Carroll, Leonard Gogniat, Eliza Carthy, Natalie MacMaster, Chris Thile, Nickel Creek, Punch Brothers, Cathal Hayden, John Carty, Arty McGlynn, John Doyle, Radiohead, Lunasa, The Gypsy Kings, Jenna Reid, The Savage Jazz, Emily Loizeau, Elana James, The Chieftains, Penguin Café Orchestra, Sparks, Devon Sproule, Maxim Vengerov, The Cure, Simon Mayer, Flook, Altan, Kate Rusby, Karine Polwart, Julie Fowlis, The Devil’s Interval, Donal Lunny, The Spooky Men’s Chorale, Jack Johnson, Frankie Gavin, Queen, Jethro Tull, Led Zeppelin, Frank Sinatra, Jamie Cullum, Norah Jones, Snow Patrol, Swingle Singers, Coldplay, U2, Regina Spektor, Imogen Heap, Chopin, Beethoven, Bach, Enya, Chris Wood, Kila, Show of Hands and also ton of musicians I know locally, who shall go un-named for now =)
If anyone thinks there is a piece of music I MUST track down before I die, please do introduce me to it, provided it’s not mindless rap or some fool who sounds like they’re on helium. Merci!
Animated Yann Tiersen =)

adopt your own virtual pet!Do say hello to my llama, Thing. Thing took a surprise journey into the UNKNOWN recently due to myspace's misbehaviour, but has now returned thanks to the reconciliation between myspace and myself. Sorry for filling my page with crap, but HEY it's a LLAMA!!!
Lets just use this space to mention people "worth mentioning", mm?
Eileen Ivers and Yann Tiersen: Both MASSIVE inspirations to my music.
All musician friends who I've met mostly in Newcastle, who have been around to help and have fun with the music in some way or another since I took up the fiddle.
Theresa Bourke for providing great friendship, hospitality, encouragement and guidance during my stay with her in Ireland, 07.
A lady named Ulrica who is truly one of the most positive, uplifting and inspirational people I have ever had the pleasure of meeting and becoming friends with. She is one of a kind and has left such an impression on my life that I feel as though anything is possible. Amazing person...I can't wait until our paths cross again, and hope they continue to many a time.
Lastly anyone who can make me come to exploding point with laughter is classed as brilliant in my books. Jonathan, my "tickly flannel" chum can't go without a mention, nor can "THE THREE" of ST Joseph's - famous for our laughter explosions and obscure debates ;-)
