About Me

Based in Chicago, Sarah is the sole singer and instrumentalist for all the tracks from her album, "The Waiting", which debuted in February of 2007. You can catch her single, "Coming For You"on the upcoming soundtrack for "The Thirsting", starring legend, Mickey Rooney, with score by Filter's Geno Lenardo, which premiered Halloween, 2006. The film's director, Mark Vadik also wrote and directed the short, "Summer Silenced", for the Chicago division of the national film competition, 48 Hour Film Project, 2006. The film's entire underscore included a nearly seven minute version of Sarah's tune, "Find Me". The song, itself, provided sole inspiration for the film's subject matter. The piece won best editing and best acting in the competition.Sarah writes, plays, produces, and sings all the tracks of her songs, who's trademark sound is up to 15+ layers of vocal harmonies, providing an interesting and unique backdrop for her musical vision. Comparisons to her work include Kate Bush, who is her foremost musical role model, Nico, and P.J. Harvey. Also, other influences include Crosby, Stills, & Nash, Laurie Anderson, Slayer, Trans Am, Boards of Canada, Lisa Gerardo, Melvins, Death in Vegas, and Neil Young.Sarah is also an esteemed fashion designer. Her clothing has been shown by Elite and Ford models, and has been presented at such venues as Hyatt Regency Hotel in downtown Chicago, Bungalow, on Chicago's north side, and Delacosta, at Chicago's Navy Pier, exclusively by Melissa Brown with Lip Service Productions, the proud pruduction company for the Chicago branch runway shows for Levi's, La Perla, and United Colors of Benetton. She has also custom designed several gowns for painter and international cult film icon, Sofiya Smirnova. Her style is pointedly couture, with inspirations such as Alexander McQueen and John Galliano, and Imitation of Christ, as seen with her plaid minidress, and flannel trapize costume piece, and a pinstripe capeminidress, inspired by Alice in Wonderland. You can view some of her runway looks from past shows at www.sarahsmith111111.bravehost.com, where you can see a photo of model, Sarah Von, in one of her dresses, who competed in cycle 8 of Tyra Bank's "America's Next Top Model".You can also check out extended (original) versions of "Find Me and "Coming For You".Look for her single, "Now That You Are Here", in the 2008 feature release, "Hag", also scored by Filter's Geno Leonardo. The film is directed by Mark, as well. She is currently in the studio recording a new album.
