With jazz-fusion project Chromazone, a collaboration between German guitarist Fabian Bruegge and drummer Jesco Bressem started in the year 2004.Their style of music is based on a mixture of contemporary jazz and jazz-rock fusion, influenced by elements of eclectic jazz from 70’s ECM recordings, Chick Corea, John Abercrombie, etc., and fusion styles like those of guitarists Allan Holdsworth and Frank Gambale.The 10 tracks on the debut album “chromazone” , released in May 2007, are all original compositions. The melodic instrumental tunes feature complex rhythms and harmonies, mainly based on a combination of modal and non-functional chord changes.Fabian Bruegge, born 1974 in Luebeck, Germany, is an alumnus of the Berklee College of Music, Boston, where he was enrolled as a jazz composition major from 1999 to 2001. A main characteristic of his guitar playing is the chord-melody style, i.e. playing the melody and the chords of a tune simultaneously. As a soloist, he tries to find a balance between lyricism and more abstract, free flowing lines.Jesco Bressem, born 1967 in Luebeck, learned to play the drums self taught. he continued his education by attending various workshops and clinics(Germany & LA) lead by drummers like Vinnie Colaiuta ,Steve Smith, Dave Weckl and many others. In Hamburg and Luebeck, he has played in many hard rock and progressive metal bands and accompanied several instrumental rock guitarists, before he change his style to fusion, influenced by drummers like Chad Wackerman and Dennis Chambers.For more information, photos and sound files, please visit:www.chromazone.de
