Son Of Kick was selected in the top 20 talent search for Gilles Peterson's World Wide Festival and invited to play with the winner Emilie Chick and in the top 5 for "Les Printemps De Bourge" last winter.This year so far...he recently won,on "Palms out again"(along 4 others) the Kotchy "She Made It Easy" remix Competition. Out on Palms Out Sounds & Civil Music. He's playing alongside Buraka Som Systema,El Guincho and Diplo at the opening day of Gilles Peterson's World Festival in Sete.Now Son Of Kick is touring Australia and Asia with gigs at Sydney Festival along side Mr Fish,Santogold,Dj Medhi,A-Track. In Melbourne with a weekly residency at the gymnasium like, club/bar : The Croft insitute.Son Of Kick is also co-producing electric talent, Malaysian female MC "Arabyrd" with Stereotyp & Cee from Al Haca (CrunchTime). This will surprise those looking for an uptempo stomper but trust us, it'll be stuck in your head before you know it...With that in mind, the remix from Mayar comes correct with thumping, rolling beats and jackhammer bass before unleashing the vocal in all it's splendour. Taking it's cues from a multitude of influences, the mix smushes Detroit techno chords, brash electronic synths and Benga-esque subs into a gigantic, surprisingly cohesive whole. A big one, no doubt, the mix has been featured heavily in many a Stanton Warriors set of late, so that should give you an idea of the level of badness to expect...Finally, Son Of Kick himself gets in on the uptempo action with his 'Kick Flip' mix.
