How I made my profile:
I used Dave & Jay's amazing myspace layout editor ...

I am Melissa, better known on ebay by the nickname Meloo...you can check out my fabulous auctions

Had I known when I signed up with ebay that I'd end up selling vintage clothing for 10 years there I might have come up with a more clever name! Prior to ebay I sold vintage clothing, jewelry and primarily Mid-Century Modern, 40s/50s Tiki and Art Deco furniture, with a little American Empire thrown in for good measure at a brick and mortar shop in Historic Ellicott City, MD and later in Historic Fredericksburg,VA...actually I had the distintion of being the ONLY person NOT selling Victorian Oak in Fredericksburg....(AH..you know me now dontcha!! )We moved from the sultry south (Richmond, VA)to the Desert of AZ and so I gave up the shop and am all about the 'bay right now selling the most fabulous vintage clothing to ever cross my path....and YOURS!
Ever since I was a little girl I would lose myself in the glamour of old movies....from the leopard lined convertible and baroque interior in Sunset Boulevard, to the over-the-top glam-wear designed by Adrian in 'The Woman' to the fabulous Hawaiian/resort wear in 'Place in the Sun' and 'From Here to Eternity'...from Theda Bara to Marilyn Monroe...from Clara Bow and Louise Brooks to Rita Hayworth and Hedy Lamarr...from Gloria Swanson and Joan Crawford to Elizabeth Taylor....from Carole Lombard to Lana Turner...to anything designed by Edith Head....I wanted to live in their world, so it is perfectly suited that I sell the glamorous gowns that I have always loved.I specialize in real-size glam-wear from the 20's thru the 50's with an occasional Pucci or lame'/ermine-trimmed Edwardian gown....and because I'm no longer a size 2 either I search for the most fabulous clothing for real woman with curves.
Beyond that I love the beach and anything tropical...anything Art Deco from architecture to textiles....40's Hawaiian and Western....50's atomic....beautiful Art Nouveau prints of William Morris to the over-the-top pastel fabulousness of Miami Beach....love music and still have a vinyl collection somewhere in the 2,000 range....my tastes run the gamut from Cole Porter, to Rev. Horton Heat, Little Willie John, Bessie Smith (old blues and r & b) to the Cramps and old school DC Punk....Tom Jones to Motorhead, I LOVE 50's Doo Wop-Dion and the Belmont's, The Monotones etc. I am fascinated by 'What's My Line'and have read all the books about Dorothy Kilgallon, Bennett Cerf and Arlene Francis in addition to having all the episodes on tape....(yep, I'm a freak)! I was in the restaurant biz for many years and am a total foodie/wino....which could also have something to do with no longer being a size 2...I'm new to Myspace, but will try and update often....so check back and see what incredible vintage I've found in my travels!! xoxo~Meloo
