TOPSY TURVY DESIGN is the brainchild of Theatrical Milliner & Costumier, K. Brown-Dye, who works & dwells in the footprint of a Historical 1916 brick tenement building in the heart of Oakland Chinatown, California.
Mrs. Brown-Dye's webstore topsyturvydesign.com features her whimsical, completely, hand-crafted COSTUME ACCESSORIES with an emphasis & focus on the lost art of MILLINERY.
All of Ms. Brown-Dye's bespoke hatties are built from scratch using buckram & wire construction which is then covered & trimmed using only the finest of materials & hand finishing . Old school all the way & custom made to fit you!

my heros - ms zabo, p.t. barnum, paper mache artisan, gemma taccogna, sandy powell,julie taymor, terry gilliam, clara bow, the demoulin brothers - makers of fine fraternal garb & props at the turn of the last century, set & costume designer leon bakst of the balle russe & MY PARENTS! Two of the kindest, most creative, hysterical people I have ever known. How cute were they in the 70's?
