President Eisenhower, in his farewell address to the nation, January 1961:
"In the counsels of Government, we must guard against the acquisition of unwarranted influence, whether sought or unsought, by the Military Industrial Complex. The potential for the disastrous rise of misplaced power exists, and will persist. We must never let the weight of this combination endanger our liberties or democratic processes. We should take nothing for granted. Only an alert and knowledgeable citizenry can compel the proper meshing of the huge industrial and military machinery of defense with our peaceful methods and goals so that security and liberty may prosper together."
The above quote from President Eisenhower has become my motto lately as I try to be an alert and knowledgable citizen, and do my part to protect the civil liberties provided to us in the U.S. Constitution. I believe we owe it to ourselves, our families, and future generations to do this. We can't let those in power use 9/11 as an excuse to enslave us.
Also, I'm doing what I can to END THE WAR. More than 3,000 American soldiers have died, and countless civilians. We owe it to the soldiers and their families to bring them home.
