Gentle Ben & His Sensitive Side

Possibly considering the idea of doing something

About Me

It was a triumphant year for Gentle Ben and His Sensitive Side. In 2004 they released their debut album ‘The Beginning of the End’ (featuring the JJJ hit of the same name plus got heaps of airplay on channel 7's Last Man Standing and Rage), toured this wide, brown land several times and supported the likes of ‘Rocket Science’, ‘The Handsome Family’ and ‘Calexico’, as well as their own shows. By contrast, the band has been relatively quiet on the live front during 2005. They haven’t been idle during this time, however, choosing instead to spend their days in the seclusion of Melbourne’s Atlantis Studios. Within this seething den of iniquity they have spent their time inhaling stale cigarette smoke, drinking whiskey and beer, whilst chiselling away at their soon to be released sophomore effort under the evil gaze of producer Loki Lockwood. Some songs are similar in style to the three minute vignettes audiences would be familiar with on the debut album, however, the bands palette has expanded to include songs ranging from sprawling opuses to stripped back compositions recorded on the spot in the studio. As they prepare to launch gallantly into a new period of live activity, it would be wise to re-acquaint yourself with the line-up of ‘Gentle Ben and his Sensitive Side’ so you won’t feel awkward when your co-workers are talking about them around the water cooler on a Monday

Band Members: Gentle Ben Corbett - vocals Don’t worry, ladies, he really is a nice guy! His doom-laden imagery, flailing limbs and impassioned vocal delivery mask a sensitive, misunderstood soul. If you took him home to meet your mother he would probably complement you on the lovely décor of her home, before throwing his dinner against the wall and storming out into the welcoming arms of the night. Dylan McCormack - guitar How does he do it? You could watch him work his magic with those nimble fingers until the wee hours of the morning, plucking out mini symphonies that leave you gasping for air. And he’s not too bad on the guitar, either! Trevor Ludlow - bass More enigmatic than the most enigmatic enigma. Trevor counters all the chaos with careful, measured bass lines. If you are looking for some respite from the hurricane then check this guy out. Trevor is the eye of the storm that is Gentle Ben and his Sensitive Side. Nick Naughton - drums Nick is one of the most relenting juggernauts in contemporary music. Most drummers will cut a swathe through an audience and take no prisoners, leaving a trail of dead in their path, Nick, by comparison will slow down to a leisurely place and bid you a ‘good morning’ whilst slowly running over your legs and leaving you crippled for life.
