"…sounds of blue and in between..."

About Me

An emerging trio with a transient sound, a chunky edge, and a jazz inspired soul that lends to a tasty groove. If you enjoy walking away from a gig with a face-wide grin then checkout a live set at your next opportunity.Having found themselves especially at home on stage at all the stalwarts of the South-East Corner, nightillion are a band that embraces the intimacy of a live set to create an atmosphere conducive to sharing the energy created onstage. With a knack for feeling the audience, nightillion can move from an organic, energetic & almost explosive band to a sultry sounscape of intimate songs. After notching up a number of festivals,(4zZzfm,Beer and Loathing in Brisvegas, Thawed Out, 1:4) and gigs with Beth Preston (USA), Toby (W.A) James O'Brien (The Boat People) w/ Emma Dean, The Gin Club and most of Brisbane's local troubadours including Soldiers of the Sun, nightillion are constantly exploring new dynamics within performing, ultimately, to engage the audience and get them coming back in droves.Mariel has a distinct vocal, driven from roots and blues, essentially influenced by early jazz. Through her guitar she picks an intricate weave of tonal melody and chord(al) accompaniment. Krissi brings the low end, laced with mowtown and dub inspired grooves. Luka is the percussive gel of this trio, rhythmical, musical, versatile. Together they create a live sound that is unobtrusive, roots driven, and fretlessly smooth.Since formation, nightillion has been networking with local bands and have the ability to present a full nights worth of support artists as well as simply filling a short time slot. The band members are advocates for live and independent music in Brisbane, and look forward with the view of sustainability for the live music scene. Above and beyond the call for unity of musicianship in Brisbane, nightillion are prepared to go wherever opportunity may knock. Regional, national, and international tours and supports are all in the foreseeable future of the band.Contact any of the members of nightillion at [email protected] or Krissi on 0411255792 for enquiries and further details.
