BIOGRAPHY:Michael Lynch is a Guitar Slinger, raised and born in Melbourne Australia. He has been studying various genres for a number of years now. Studying under the influence of Laurie Polec, Jack Pantazis and Lucas Michailidis throughout the years, Michael as developed a versatile guitar playing style. As to this the later years of Michael’s playing as personally been devoted to modern sounds of Jazz, Ambience and Experimental compositions. He has a high interest in outside tonal, ambient soundscapes, non diatonic harmonic content and layered guitar playing in which, around the Melbourne music scene, this is quite limited. Michael is highly inspired by musicians such as Pat Metheny, Brian Eno, John Coltrane, Robert Fripp and Andy Summers, just to name a few. Currently completing a course in Jazz and Contemporary Music Performance, Michael is a young fresh composer who is highly inspired daily by new concept in which he has placed within his very own material to create newfangled, modern sounding compositions with the “Michael Lynch†stamp of creativity.
OBSTREPEROUS:Obstreperous (Noise) was composed Mid 2006. It ventures clearly into the dark world of ambience and outside tonal playing. Somewhat beautiful, delicate and sparse, obstreperous can be quite harsh to the none, untrained hear. With the use of subtle time changes, lush colourful chords patience is simply your virtue. The first version of this tune (Posted on the myspace music player) only two different uses of instrumentation, 7 string Guitar and Bass. As to the use of overdubs, drones and colourful chords i was able to create a full sounding recording with the equipment available at the time (A boss 8 track recorder). Within the next months i will be going to create a more electronically version of obstreperous to create an even more obscure sound so stay tune.
