4ZzZ - No Other Radio Like This!
4ZzZ is...
4ZzZ became the first FM community broadcaster in Australia when it started transmitting on the 8th of December 1975 from the University of Queensland as 4ZZ. Forcibly evicted from UQ in December 1988, 4ZzZ broadcast from Coronation Drive in Toowong for several years. As 4ZzZ outgrew the premises there, the stations devoted volunteers, subscribers and supporters raised $30,000 in 1992 for a deposit to purchase the premises in Fortitude Valley, where we broadcast from today. Throughout its history, 4ZzZ has been renowned for supporting local music and artists, putting on great events, presenting news and opinions not found in mainstream media and providing support to our local community.
Today, 4ZzZ is Brisbane's (Australia) best independent radio station, blasting fresh local and underground music and news through your radio from our premises in Fortitude Valley to the outskirts of Brisbane.
We represent all styles of sound, most of which are ignored by mainstream media outlets. You can tune into 102.1 fm to hear all sorts of music including indie, punk, rock, noise, electronica, ska, rockabilly, dark wave, reggae, hip hop and drum & bass, and local news sourced and presented by our award winning newsroom.
The 4ZzZ library is a goldmine of awesome music, each week around 60 new releases come into the 4ZzZ library - 60 % of these are local and Australian releases.
Unlike most other radio stations, our announcers don't adhere to playlists - this means they play what they want to, when they want to. All that is implemented is a quota system, so we continue to play a significant amount of female, Australian, Brisbane and new music. We also have heaps of great giveaways every day for our subscribers. Check out the program guide to see what shows we have to offer.
You can check out the 4ZzZ website at www.4zzzfm.org.au .
4ZzZ's Motto is AGITATE, EDUCATE, ORGANISE
The station's motto is AGITATE, EDUCATE, ORGANISE and to that end we don't shy away from challenging the status quo. We aim to do this by providing access for the community to radio, supporting local bands, artists and events, providing training for our volunteers, and through dissemination of alternative news and current affairs.

4ZZZ Local Independent News
The 4ZzZ newsroom has a strong history of providing a quality independent news service for the Brisbane community. We provide a forum for many important local and international issues which are ignored or distorted by the mainstream media. In doing so we go beyond the 30 second news grab, and strive to delve further into issues which affect our lives and that of our planet. The quality of the output from Triple Zed is proven by the number awards won by Zed journalists throughout the years. All of the news produced at Triple Zed is done so on a volunteer basis, by people are passionate about what they do.
