Jon Cowherd

I'm a pianist, composer and arranger living in New York City and I'm very fortunate to be in a couple of bands with some of my best friends. The first, the Brian Blade Fellowship, is a jazz group that Brian and I founded in 1997. We recorded two albums released on the Blue Note label. Those cd's, Fellowship and Perceptual featured our original compositions and the brilliant playing of our friends Melvin Butler, Dave Easley, Jeff Parker, Kurt Rosenwinkel, Christopher Thomas and Myron Walden with guest appearances by Daniel Lanois and Joni Mitchell. Brian and I also arranged and produced (with Tommy LiPuma) the debut cd by Lizz Wright entitled "Salt". I have toured with the Brian Blade Fellowship, Carla Cook, Vanessa Rubin, Lizz Wright and frequently play with the Village Vanguard Orchestra, the Bob Mintzer Big Band, the George Gee Orchestra and the David Berger Big Band. I also play around New York with Claudia Acuna, Dave Binney, Lage Lund, Donny McCaslin, John Patitucci and many others. Another project I enjoy playing and singing in is a band called The Local. One of my oldest friends Tim Champeaux and I started writing songs a few years ago and then released a cd last year called "Just Show Up". That album features Lee Alexander, Dave Berger, Anne Cowherd, John Gros, Goffrey Moore, Caleb Sherman and Pete Smith.I edited my profile with Thomas' Myspace Editor V4.4
