Fontenette’s television credits include scoring and source music for docuseries on TLC, A&E and Court TV, as well as compositions for the HBO documentary "Death Of Two Sons," about Amadou Diallo and Jesse Thyne, by Micah Schaffer. As an arranger, programmer and performer, Fontenette's credits include the Grammy-nominated “Everyday,†for Tyler Perry’s "Family Reunion," featuring Chaka Khan, Gerald Levert, Yolanda Adams and Carl Thomas (produced by Barry Eastmond). He has also accrued credits which include work with Jay-Z, Jermaine Dupri, Babyface, Caron Wheeler, Lou Rawls, Regina Bell and many others.
Turning more recently to feature film scoring, Fontenette recently completed the score to "BlacKout," starring Jeffrey Wright, Zoe Saldana, Melvin Van Peebles, and LaTonya Richardson-Jackson, which premiered at the 2007 Tribeca Film Festival, directed by Jerry LaMothe. He is currently working on the score to "Multiple Sarcasms," starring Timothy Hutton, Mira Sorvino, Stockard Channing, Dana Delany, and Mario Van Peebles, directed by Brooks Branch.
Fontenette’s training includes extensive study with legendary master clarinetist Alvin Batiste at Southern University (Baton Rouge, LA) where he began to focus on jazz and composition. The late Batiste is considered a key mentor figure among New Orleans’ jazz elite, including Branford Marsalis. Fontenette also received a masters degree in music technology from the Steinhardt School of Education at New York Univeristy. He has worked extensively with Bernard Drayton, considered the “Godfather†of sophisticated urbane commercials, and a founding partner of one of the most successful jingle houses in New York City.
