Music lover in MySpace-Heaven

About Me

Okay, who am I?Would like to introduce myself properly; if not - how are you gonna know whether you want to become/stay my 'friend in space'? But .... there is so much great music to exploreand really; I am not that interesting ;-).Inspired by Steve Lawson I have just listened to Theo Travis and The Recycle Collective: loved it. (Keep coming back to Steve's own 'Grace and Gratitude'. Pure grace being able to listen to this!). I have spent hours with wonderfully moving, vulnerable, yet strong women - loved it. Inspired by David I have enjoyed so many things.... (Check out his impeccable taste by visiting his site!).It is SOOO amazing to surf around here being introduced to many unknown and reminded of so many inspiring musicians that somehow had skipped my mind.I am discovering that one of my purposes of being here is to introduce some of my ('space') friends to musicians that they might not have met - yet. And vice versa; through friends get to meet other great people whom I had never heard about before. What a gift!!

My Interests

GOOD MUSIC and - sort of as a paradox since I pretty much have music on always: silence, prayer and meditation; (Christian) spirituality in many forms and shapes.Going to great concerts (e.g. Jonatha Brooke in VEGA April 21st.) Thanks to people like Brett Perkins and his Listening Room Concerts/Songwriters in the Round I have finally found a place for my love for excellent singersongwriters - and audiences who appreciate a good song more than getting drunk as quickly as possible! Long live initiatives like Brett's, like the Bedford in London, and the likes all over the world!!Long live musicians of all genres! Being on MySpace has reminded me of lost (music) loves that are now rekindled - and meeting new stuff is constantly broadening my horizon. Thank you, everone!I love watching good sappy movies (a few years too late, so often on dvd!). Catching up with old and new friends on the internet (and some times even in the real world ;-)). (Feels kind of wrong somehow listing this as 'interests'. It's more like: 'this is who I am/what I long and live for', if you know what I mean.)

I'd like to meet:

Fellow music lovers and other pilgrims on the journey of life, on our way 'home'. 'Home' being God and the person you/we/I were meant to become. The journey of life can be... troublesome and dark at times - and at yet light (in every sense of the word). It is lonely - when it comes down to it... and at the same time we are never alone. Life sure is a paradox. Know what I mean?Well, in this peculiar and fantastic MySpace-world I have to admit that though I WOULD like to meet loads of new - true - friends, I seem to have trouble enough finding time and energy for the ones I have already, so if you want me to add you, I'd appreciate a personal note explaining why your eyes were caught by my profile. And if you are a musician/band: if I am somehow moved by your music you stand a good chance of being added :-)

Music:

A random namedropping from the top of my head/heart Jonatha Brooke, Randi Laubek, Annette Bjergfeldt, Tina Dickow (Dico), Ane Brun, Arvo Pärt, Jan Garbarek (and the Hilliard Ensemble), Keith Jarrett, Eels, Rufus Wainwright, Antony and the Johnsons, Aimee Mann, James Taylor, Marc Cohn (still hoping for a new full length album...;-)), Jens Lysdal, Tord Gustavsen,Teitur, Peter Smith, Ivan Pedersen, Mary Gauthier, Daniel Lanois, Thomas Dybdahl, Jonas Fjeld, Shawn Colvin, --- and too many others to mention right now! Will update as I go along.

Movies:

The Straight Story, Steel Magnolias (looove Shirley Maclaine in that one!), Love Actually, Elling (Norwegian and wonderful), Isfugle (Danish early 80s, with my 'hero' Michael Falch), Patch Adams, Good Will Hunting, Frankie and Johnny, The Thing Called Love by Peter Bogdanovich - and many many more. New favourite: "As in Heaven" - Som i himlen, Swedish director Kay Pollak and BRILLANT actor Michael Nyström. So many good cries in this moving, funny and beautiful movie about the healing powers of music... and love!

Television:

Less and less. Once a maniac, staying home from parties to watch favourite shows ;-). Mostly watch movies. Missing out on a lot of serious documentaries, news etc - shame on me! Goes to show my lack of commitment in the serious trouble that modern society is in. Actually, I really am sorry about that, but I seem to suffer from some 'lack of concentration-disorder' that makes it hard to focus....

Books:

I read far too little. To be truthful ;-) - I mostly read chick lit and crime novels, preferably Swedish and Norwegian. Old and new 'serious' favourites: Anselm Grün, German monk and a great inspiration. Henri Nouwen, e.g.: The Return of the Prodigal Son. Thomas Merton, a Trappist monk who died way too soon and yet managed to write tons of books on how to live a contemplative life without loosing perspective: the suffering in this world is our responsibility to do something about. Fascinating man - and also a big fan of modern music and a cold beer! My kind of man!

Heroes:

What is a hero really? Is Jesus Christ my hero? No, he is God and I put my faith and trust in him. Are all the brave and wonderful and wise people that I know heroes? Maybe - and at the same time they are vulnerable human beings just like you and me.What is a hero really?
