About Me

Solar Plexus was recorded in August 08' and features Logan Richardson, Jeremy Viner, Tyshawn Sorey, Chris Tordini and myself. From Out of the Grey Forest and Claire in the Sky are solo piano tracks. Like a Deer and Billowing and Swaying are 2 recordings from a recent session I did with Nasheet Waits, Ben Street, Jonathan Finlayson & Chris Cheek. Sun's Eyes was recorded a few years ago with Tommy Crane, Chris Tordini, Tatum Greenblatt & Jeremy Viner.
Jesse Elder is a young composer and pianist living in Park Slope, Brooklyn. He performs at various venues steadily and occasionally does concerts of original music with his ensemble. Jesse studied at Interlochen, Oberlin & New School. He is a 3 x winner in the national "ASCAP Young Jazz Composer's Competition". He has performed at venues such as the Blue Note, the Jazz Standard, Fat Cat, Smalls, Minton's Playhouse, and others. Jesse is very happy to be making music with some of his favorite artists in the world and is greatly inspired through these collaborations.

Sounds Like: Somehow I'm unable to change my record label status. Hmm... Until this glitch is fixed, I'll just use this cozy spot right here to tell you I've signed on with the Indie Label "Off" from Belgium. I'll be releasing my first CD with them sometime in late 09' or early '10. I'm deep into the process of composing for the album and will be going into the studio several times throughout the fall, winter & spring to record with my ensemble. I look forward to sharing some of what I'm working on with you here on my myspace page.Thank you,Jesse
