The sPaZtiC RoGeR Years 1985 - 1992

About Me

Spastic Roger was a two, sometimes three, and sometimes four piece ensemble that dabbled in all genres throughout the latter part of the 1980's through the early 1990's. The band can be distinctly divided into two era's, the pre Fostex, and post Fostex era. The pre Fostex era consisted of recording one track through cassette and then playing that track back through a Sanyo stereo with aditional instruments and vocals piled on for a final track. "Red Foxx" is the one specimen that best exemplifies the pre Fostex era. Ballbreaker is a classic of the Fostex era. Spastic Roger was considered a dangerous band at the time. They were prohibited from playing high school talent shows and sometimes law enforcement was used to end the Rogers lengthy jam sessions. The lyrics and music of the Rogers best expressed the oppression and alienation of educated suburban youth confined to a bedroom in their parents house. This alienation would later express itself in the "Grunge" era, at that point the Roger's dropped off the face of the earth and nobody knows why. What was left in their wake was some groundbreaking material. A wave of creativity was flooding all mediums, not only music, throughout the Roger's era. Remember, this was the period that brought us Tom Cruise in "Cocktail", and Patrick Swayze in "Roadhouse". The Roger's were doing the same things musically but just taking it one step over the edge. We hope you enjoy."Shotgun in the face, sets a nice pace"

In one song, Spastic Roger expressed what it took Shakespiere, Dostoevsky, Nietsche, Einstein, and Dr. Drew Pinsky a lifetime to achieve. "Who are We - Where are They" These lyrics are about taking in...

Electric Eel

This was really a breakthrough in 80's music. Where other bands were happy to plug along with their little programmed beats and air keyboards, the "Rogers" plugged a casio keyboard into a Randall stac...
