About Me

To define our sound is very difficult, there are elements of 50's Rock n' Roll, 60's & 70's groove and attitude, and modern pop. No-one seems to be able to put a 'label' on our music, which is just how we like it as it stops you as a band from progressing creatively. We like to hope that we have something for everyone who listens to us or comes to see us perform live.

The key components are variations on guitar style - from rock n roll to conventional rock to softer styles, underpinned by strong keyboards - both speedy Hammond to "Angry" Elton John piano! Vocals are unique in terms of strength and diction, all built on a strong drum and bass rhythm section.

So what are the songs about - well, everything. Classic rock and roll, love songs all the way to songs that reflect existentialist angst. The Debonair are tired of the common wallpaper music that is in the charts and on the radio all the time. Music is changing, we accept that. However, it is losing its direction with most music falling in to similar categories, with little more than complaining how bad everything is in the messages it puts across. Instead, The Debonair take a close look at the music from four decades ago that globally underpinned the modern musical age, and building on that, play unique, individual, original material that is difficult to catagorise. All our songs possess what we call, AMPLE THRUNGE which is what our fans like. Thought provoking, but you can move to it!

What is now needed is trusted reliable people, from near and far, who know about music and recognise a band with huge potential to create a global network of contacts who may be able to assist in our quest to quite simply get our music across to the masses!

My Interests

Music:

Band Members: Dave Dono (Vocals)
John Chapman (Keyboards)
Andy Broster (Guitar)
Nick Sherratt (Bass)
Andy Thompson (Drums)
Influences:

Our influences are wide and varied, the only real pattern being that there is nothing too modern - like artists such as The Doors, Arthur Lee (Love), Joy Division and The Stooges etc etc. These are a few of the many influences we have - the bottom line is that we are developing our own image and sound and do not wish to simply replicate existing artists.

The sound is pretty unique and much thought is given to it. We have looked back to the 60s, 70s, and brought the "vibe" forward to the 21st century and combined it with a modern songwriting approach. This means that although the influence of a by-gone musical age can be heard, the music, surprisingly, sounds very modern - fresh and modern!
