About Me

I grew up in London with my mum, dad, big brother, and best dog in the world. My South African parents moved to London before I was born, but they always had a strong connection to their birthplace and their work with international non-profit organizations meant traveling back to South Africa and also to unbelievable places all over the globe. Growing up, I was lucky enough to be taken with, see a lot of the world, and have some amazing experiences along the way.
Musically, I've also gone a major journey. I started out learning the piano but got impatient with theory, ran with the chords I knew, and began writing songs at an early age.
Back in the days of after school snacks and a time when MTV was still showing videos, I realized I loved singing and began to train with an awesome vocal coach. The basics that I learned from her I still use to this day. Back then, I sang for producer, he asked me to do something that I didn't understand till much later: "you can sing, but you've got to find your voice." I never forgot that line.
It took me a while to make the transition from musical theatre and classical performance to a more rock/pop/ soul sound. I can't underestimate the importance of life experience and how that has translated to my music and sound.
I moved to the states when I was 18 for a two month internship in Los Angeles but I kind of fell in love with the movie biz, sunshine and energy that makes LaLa land so addictive. It?s amazing to think that I moved to LA knowing one person and having one suitcase. I managed to get a lucky break and started working as a production designer. 16 hour days don?t leave a lot of time for singing but I found a balance -- it hasn't always been easy but this town has taught me to keep on going.
LA is my home for now, but I still LOVE London. I miss my family and my friends so I try get back as much as possible. I drink tea with 2 sugars everyday and hold on to my accent for dear life ;)
Since I've been in LA I've worked and collaborated with some amazing musicians. Recently I began working with a producer called Tone and together we started to define a collaborative sound. Our work led to recording my first EP "Little Miss Anyone."
