"One of the best things you can do on radio is play a good record, today someone bought this little gem into our studio, I played it and I thought well, it really doesn't get any better than this...(plays Pots Of Gold)...Can you believe that we get songs like this delivered into us?. How good is that song?....unbelievable!...contemporary, its just smacks of quality"

"Mamas Gun, led by über cool vocalist Andy Platts sound fabulous on record and go down a hoot live too!"
Steve Lamaq BBC Radio 1
"Mamas Gun tracks belong in an art gallery rather than on a piece of laser embedded plastic. One listen and you'll feel like real soul music and music with real soul has finally found its way home."
Blues & Soul Magazine Feature
"...Mamas Gun offer up some funk as toe-tapping as the recent work of Mark Ronson."
Drowned in Sound From the Lockout Vol 1 Review
...The highlight has to be the pure filth funk of 'Ain't Your Life a Bitch' performed by the five piece, and with three part harmonies to boot. It is a lesson in evil groove. And that boy Platts can sing hellagood (in fact, so can 'The Painted Man', this pig was a bit scared when he heard how low his voice can go).
This pig and The Chief dig Mamas Gun. They can shoot us with their bop gun anytime.

Mamas
Who?
MAMAS GUN is 28 year old multi-instrumentalist, vocalist, songwriter & producer ANDY PLATTS.
I was born to a Filipino mother and a British father in Hong Kong, and spent the first half of my life constantly on the move between the East and the West living in various places in both Asia and Europe before settling in the UK. Music was one of the strongest threads in my life through all this so I fell into a musical world listening to the likes of Stevie Wonder, Queen, ELO, Sly and the Family Stone, and The Beatles.Upon my return to the UK for the second half of my life up till now I absorbed rock, metal, indie and grunge music, learning guitar and piano side by side. Growing into a young adult I became very turned on by jazz music and consequently set about learning to combine rock, jazz, funk, soul all within the context of (hopefully!) strong melodic songs.
In the early noughties cut my teeth writing and playing for a few artists as well as writing all the material for my then 11 piece band Delrosario .After deciding to change the name to Mamas Gun and reducing the band to a trio, I spent some time writing with some of my musical peers here in the UK and over in the US including Toby Smith (Jamiroquai), Jon Oates (Hall & Oates) and Rod Temperton (Michael Jackson. Heatwave, George Benson).
