Im a british born songwriter and come from a family of singers and performers. My mother was a professional country singer, My uncle brendan, fronted a irish country showband for 40 years, all my aunties sing, and most of my cousins, growing up all school holidays were spent running around the streets and the countryside of northern and southern Ireland with all my cousins and friends, playing football, kissing girls underneath plum trees, driving my mum crazy for more money to go play pool and friut machines and drink bottled coke from P.Js Chippy, The normal stuff!But the evenings were a different story altogether, we all went out into the town of Ballybay,(which was only one street, but had 22 bars) and most with a live irish or country band in, everybody would sing, and when the bands stopped, every one would get settled normally by a fire and take a turn to sing, no music, no guitars or microphone just a voice and a chance to express yourself, complete silence, it was amazing,Its there in those moments that I fell in love with music!I signed my first deal with Sony in 2000 as a singer songwriter.
While being developed, I got the chance to work with lots of great artists, writers and musicians, Gary Barlow, Sugababes, All saints, I also got the chance to sing, live and in the studio with these acts while developing my own style and putting together what was to be my first studio album.My first album was due for release in 2004 but after my dad passed away in 2004 I couldn’t sing even if I wanted to. So I said my goodbyes and left the bright lights of london to come back to Derby (Midlands, U.K)After two years of reflection and soul searching it was outside influences in the shape of an old friend Gary Barlow that convinced me to get back in the studio and not give in.I got back in the studio an recorded a demo album to try and secure my second deal with my old boss at Sony now Burleywood Music (Charlie Pinder). I signed with burleywood music in 2007.It’s great to be back writing and performing and I’m currently working mainly out of Stockholm, Sweden at EMI studios, Cosmos. As well as setting up my own recording studio and starting to write my new album, Ill be trailing tracks on my page so make sure and give me some feedback!Thanks to all the artists, writers and musicians that I have worked with so far, it can be quite scary laying yourself bare in song and then putting it out there for everyone to hear, but when you get it right its all worth it!Big Love, Andy X
