About Me

Born and raised in South West Scotland now living in England. I started writing songs when I was 16, well pretty much as soon as I got my first guitar. You know the kind, the one that you always see in the charity shops obviously Spanish with a neck that thick your hand goes numb after trying to play a B minor. Well after learning a few songs such as house of the rising sun i decided to give song writing a go. After this i formed a band and gigged wherever and whenever i could. Now i have played up and down the country supporting acts such as the wombats, The rifles, country legend Kinky Freidman and most recently Johnny flynn. I have also been working on songs in the studio and my debut ep 'Silence & Solitude' will be available to download in January 2009. Thanks for visiting the site and hope you like the songs. Ryan

My Interests

Music:

Band Members: Ryan Lauder - Guitar Harmonica Vocals
Cedric Freppel - Drums Percussions
Jim Widdop - Pedal Steel Dobro Harmonica
Leise Fleet - Cello
David Amar - Bass

Influences: Well i must say i do rather admire a little band called The Who, recently I have became fond of little folky artists that play cute little picking mixed with delicate vocals, opposite to that i do like a good bluesy vocal you know the one like Steve Marriot can bust out! A good set of lungs always calls for admiration. The 60's are a big influence on me I love the music, fashion, and art from the whole 10 years. Guinness and Whisky may also be a little influence on me! Valencia, Paris and Scotland I adore, someday i wish to retire as a songwriter up in the hills of Scotland somewhere. Saying that i have always fancied owning a little ranch, some place in Canada, kinda like Neil Young's Broken Arrow one. Oh talking about Canada that is an overwhelming influence on my music. Everything that seems to come out of that country(minus Bryan Adams and Celine Dion) i Love. The Band, Neil Young, Joni Mitchell. Recently I seem to have been drawn to North Carolina. Bluegrass, country and celtic roots music have somehow drawn me in. With the love of bands such as Old Crow Medicine Show, Chatham County Line, Band of Horses and a young fellow called Langhorne Slim. I dont know if these influences come accross in my music but hopefully in the future they will. For now i continue writing songs every day. Whether it be a little jingle or melody in my head on the way into town, or scrolling down sheet after sheet after sheet of messy lyrics.
