Not many of today’s teenagers would claim their musical heroes to be Barbara Streisand and Shirley Bassey, but Roxanne is not your typical teenager.Born in Brentwood, Essex, Roxanne won a scholarship aged 11 because of her incredibly unique voice. A few years later whilst on a family holiday Roxanne got up and sang Eva Cassidy’s ‘Somewhere Over The Rainbow’ in a karaoke bar.In the audience was someone who had friends in the music industry. This chance meeting led Roxanne to finding management and a live agent. Her management then introduced her to one of London’s top music publishers and she started working on her debut album, all before the age of 14.Live shows in London and a performance at the O2 Wireless Festival in Hyde Park clinched her a coveted support slot with Westlife on their Summer Nights tour in 2006, playing to more than 200,000 people. Having completed the tour, Roxanne went into the studio in the autumn writing and recording with amongst others, Gary Kemp and Paul Statham, who has written with many major artists, most notably Dido.
January 2007 saw Roxanne supporting Shayne Ward which was followed in June by a string of dates supporting G4 with highlights including an incredible performance at London’s Royal Albert Hall. Roxanne is hotly tipped as one of the most exciting new artists for this year.
