Synopsis - A Mile In My Shoes
The lives of seven individuals intersect as they struggle to endure the fallout that HIV/AIDS inflicts on their personal and professional lives…
LESLIE JOHNSON feels trapped. A local pharmacist, she’s powerless to save her sister, LYNETTE, from rotting in a bed as AIDS ravages her body. Meanwhile, her attempts to convince their brother, KOREY, to visit his ailing sister before it’s too late have proven equally fruitless. Even her relationship with husband DARREN is strained; recently laid off, his insecurities and frustration trigger a series of fights that threaten to tear apart their marriage once and for all…
Teenager J.J. McNEIL is only at peace when working on his music. Once the beat stops, he’s forced to contend with the specter of AIDS and being openly gay at his high school - while at home battling the stress brought on by an unsupportive mother and her latest no-good suitor - an ex-con - who’s none too thrilled to learn about J.J.’s orientation…
BRYAN and KEISHA are a young HIV-afflicted couple who are recovering drug addicts. When Keisha learns that her recurring nausea is not a symptom of her disease, but a pregnancy, the emotions of the pro-life supporter become conflicted. Does she have the baby and risk it contracting the virus - or commit an act that defies her beliefs?
Synopsis - Revelation
This “prequel” gives insight into Keisha’s crumbling life before we meet her in A Mile In My Shoes, including her addiction to crystal meth, family strife, and the events leading to her final escape from the drug and her abusive dealer. Secondary and minor characters from A Mile In My Shoes appear.
