WHAT IS THE CAUSE?
The Cause is an organization dedicated to spreading knowledge and preventing the future spread of HIV/AIDS.
HOW CAN I GET INVOLVED IN THE CAUSE?
Our meetings are on the first and third tuesday of every month @ the CSN Cheyenne Campus, at 3:30p.m., in Room 2410, inside the theater building. Meetings are open to any and all who are interested.
OUR NEXT MEETING WILL BE OCTOBER 7th. ALL ARE WELCOME HOPE TO SEE YOU THERE.
We will be discussing FRIGHT NIGHT, and other upcoming events.
WHAT INSPIRED THE CAUSE?:
On February of 2008, 22 year old Michael Giangiulio of Las Vegas, Nevada discovered he tested positive for HIV. He was also diagnosed with Acute HIV, a rare and lesser known strain of the virus that rapidly progresses throughout the body and is inhibitor (drug)-resistant.
Rather than remaining silent and quietly living with this disease and seeking any sort of medical treatment to decrease the rapid progression of his strain of HIV, Michael made the bold decision to decline any sort of healthcare.
Instead, through youtube and myspace, he now creates videos and writes blogs to document the remainder of his life living with this disease, and how it effects the lives of his friends and his loved ones. It is his goal that through the tragedy of his story, becoming a "martyr" to this cause when he eventually passes, people will understand the dangerous effects of HIV and AIDS, and that it not only affects the lives of the afflicted, but the lives of those close to the afflicted as well.
What eventually came to be was the club and organization founded at the CSN Cheyenne Campus: The Cause. With the goal of spreading awareness in mind, it is his (and the club's) hope to open the eyes of those uninformed about the deadly consequences of this disease, and that the safe route is the best way to go.
