Enrico Marchesi is a graduate of the Bergamo and Rome Conservatoire.
Is a professional freelance trumpet player and teacher
working in West Yorkshire.
Born in 1962, Enrico grew up in Bergamo, Northern Italy.
He began playing the trumpet at the age of nine
with his father who was passionate about Harry James
and all things Jazz.
After graduating in 1981 he started his professional career
in different orchestras including RAI (Italian National Symphony Orchestra),
Arturo Toscanini Symphony Orchestra of Parma,
Symphony Orchestra of Lucca, Symphony Orchestra of San Remo
and Symphony Orchestra of Foggia.
During this time he also played with many National Jazz groups
and at International Jazz Festivals throughout Italy.
He also had the honour of playing with the legendary
Sonny Rollins during his Italian tour.
Enrico also spent time perfecting his craft at the G.Verdi Conservatory
under the guidance of Maestro Giorgio Gaslini,
International pianist, composer and conductor
and at the Santa Cecilia Conservatory in Rome
under the guidance of Maestro Gianni Mazzoni.
On moving to Spain he played with a range of orchestras
both Classical and Latin American and participated
in the Puerto de la Cruz International Jazz Festival
as The Blue Note Trio with Ivan Vargas and Otto Armann.
Relocated to Leeds in 1998 and started to play with many Jazz and Salsa
musicians, locally and nationally.
He has also recorded several Latin House sessions
for Budnubac with Robin Taylor-Firth "Que Se Yo"(BMG MUSIC).
In 2003 he played at The Barbican (London) as support
to The Spanish Harlem Orchestra of New York
and at The Bridgewater Hall in Manchester
with Toolshed and Manchester Jazz Festival
with Orquestra Timbala. Enrico has also played with Bruce Adams
at the Huddersfield Jazz Festival and with
his own band at Manchester Jazz Festival 2004
and for the past two years at Scarborough Jazz Festival.
He then began composing original music
combining both his Jazz and Salsa influences
and Bourbon y Tequila was born!
